Time of past OR future Camino
Northern Way from Santander (2018)
Portuguese Way in reverse to Lisbon (2018)
Hi, I am probably going to have to cycle my pilgrimage in 2 parts over 2 years starting in 9 days time, off the Plymouth ferry & from St Malo. Im just wondering if it matters which route I take as am wanting to use the green velo routes to stay off road? Is there somewhere in St Malo to get my first stamp? In Northern France, where will I be able to get my credential stamped? Does it have to be everyday?
Thanks for any advice
Jane

Hi Jane, I don't know much about the St. Malo route (apart from meeting people who have walked it and enjoyed it). But as for stamps, you can get them virtually anywhere. Churches are a good bet (if on a camino/chemin route) but even so every bar/hotel/hostel will have a stamp, even if it just a stamp for tax forms etc. There is no such thing as an official stamp. Yes, get one once a day, its easy.

Oh, and please, please use a bell!

Bon Chemin!

Thanks for that, I had misunderstood the term 'stamp' and thought it was a special one for the Camino. I shall be visiting churches but maybe not everyday but wherever I stay each night should have one.
Yes, indeed I shall be using my bell! It infuriates me when people whizz by on bikes with no warning. Likewise,Pedestrians walking down straight paths have a habbit of changing direction and dont indicate!.
Cant wait to get going, just over a week now and looking forward to the adventure.

Sometimes cyclists may get infuriated by us walkers meandering all over the narrow track. But if the track is a steep descent then it is easier for us to zig-zag down, and much easier on the knees when carrying a pack! But if we hear a bell behind us (in time) we will happily move to one side for you!

PS the stamp is called cello in Spain, tampon in French, just so you know what to ask for!

Enjoy!
Bon Chemin/Buen Camino

In France ask for a stamp at bars, shops or tourist offices.
