Stand at the Crossroads

I know I'm not the only one who continues to think about the Camino. Such freedom and simplicity is hard to duplicate at home, isn’t it? I was reviewing my pictures (again) this week, when I came across this photo of one of the messages left on the alter in the Ermita de San Miguel Arcangel (just outside of Villatuerta, the village before Estella). Such a beautiful quote from the Old Testament Book of Jeremiah (6:16):

Stand at the crossroads, and look,
and ask for the ancient paths,
where the good way lies; and walk in it,
and find rest for your souls.

(I love how the writer of the note substituted "buen camino" for "good way.")

At what crossroads are you standing? Here's to dreaming of another Camino......Crossroads 3.jpg

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I live at a cross roads, my house is literally at the junction of the only two roads in this tiny town. My house is an old Lodge, run by the Ancient Order of Oddfellows, who gave lodging to homeless itinerant people. There is an emblem on the main wall which says "In the Lord is our trust". Despite living here for several years, and passing under this sign every day, it was on the Camino, that once more I learned to live with trust again.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Oddly enough I also live in an ex Oddfellows Meeting House.
I'm curious, I don't suppose you have a photo of your emblem handy?

The original audience was evidently contemplating with some scepticism the road not taken. The transcribed text is an abbreviated version of the Jeremiad. In the authorised version, the verse reads:

Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

A case of casting his sweetness on the desert air - of the Meseta maybe?

Yes, and we said "we WILL walk therein". :)
