Camino Portoghese Start 1. Mai 2023
Hi 🙋🏼‍♀️ I‘m Starting my Camino from Lisbon on the 1. May and I just found out that the hostel in Alpriate is permanently closed 🫣 Any suggestions? I’m not able to do 30km for my first day of Camino…

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Hello Giada. That's a Camino I won't do again, at least the Lisbon to Porto stretch, but I'm glad I did it once. When I walked from Lisbon I just had a short first day to Parque das Nacoes and stayed at a pleasant hotel with a fabulous view, the Myriad. I'd definitely recommend it for your first night. The promenade stroll is relaxing and there is a very nice food court if you don't fancy the restaurants in the Myriad. Buen Camino.

I’m starting from Lisbon 28 April with my sister. We are staying about 15 km away for €40. Santa Iria de Azoia, Portugal, Residencial Miratejo. You can book on Expedia.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

I was there in March, stayed in Alfama near the Cathedral Se and took the train from Santa Apollonia station to Santarem. A stop or two before Santarem looked like it would have been nice walking, but beyond Santarem was beautiful.

Hi...l'm on it now.... currently at Santarem after 3 days walking. Because of the issues over accommodation I took the train to Castanheira station (2.8 euros) and walked from there to Azambuja where I stayed at the Albergue (can't book ahead here)...basic but fine and with a very helpful hospitalero. Next, a short day, I stopped at Valada and overnighted at Dois Caminhos with wonderful hospitalero Enrico. Today, approx 20 km I am at a small Pension, Coimbra...nothing special but fine for tonight. I have needed to phone ahead to book places as some of these hostels are small and fill up quickly, but have got the next few days sorted with no stage more than approx 22 km. All of the people who answered the phone spoke reasonable English such that I could book a bed ahead of time ( not paying until there). The walking is pleasant, not amazingly remarkable but the Riverside ( plus bar) at Valada was a delight last night in the evening sunshine....Hope that helps you decide how to plan. Now off to find a restaurant...there look some good ones not far away! Bom Caminho!

I see some good accommodation tips already but I wanted to add that the food in Portugal was wonderful. And some of the historic places like Coimbra live on in my memory.
For me this more than made up for other challenges.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Hi Giada, we start walking May 14 and have planned to stay two nights at Villa Franca de Xira walking to Pavoa de Santa Ira on the first day then train forward to VRdX then take the train back in the morning to where we left the caminho. €18 euro for a bunk bed at the Suites and Apartments DP VFXira. Bom Caminho! Linda

I am starting on 21 July and plan to sleep over here: www.alfa10.pt. I don't know if this is the best option, but it is all I could find. Maybe someone else can give more advise.
