Staying just outside SdC on Frances?

Hi everyone

I’d really appreciate any suggestions of places to stay 5-10km outside Santiago. My thinking is to arrive for morning mass after walking, collect my compostella, have second breakfast and then set off for Negreira.

I read about someone who did this while planning our Ingles trip, but can’t find the post, author or anything related in search now...

Thanks
El

Hi ElAines. Do you want a place before or after Santiago?

if it is before, there are the albergues at Monte do Gozo. Also many little inns near the Lavacolla airport :)

Transport luggage-passengers.
From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
The Polish run Albergue at Monte De Gozo is good.
They have a very useful restaurant that seemed to be open during the afternoon and into the early evening. They didn't serve breakfast but it wasn't far to walk into Santiago with plenty of cafes on the way.
We had a twin room en-suite there it was simply furnished and inexpensive . There are also dormitories.
This Albergue is tucked away and is not the massive Albergue mentioned on another post.

If you want to stay somewhere on the way to Negreira, perhaps the albergue in Castelo would work - about 10km from Santiago:

Shout out "Hey Abbott!" when you get there.

Thanks Anamya, sorry for this late reply. I was initally thinking before, but as I've been making a few notes I have a feeling things are going to mix up a bit - so thank you for giving me informed options!

Thanks Fleur - this is my first choice if things go as per the paper I've sketched out - I don't have an actual plan :)

I have stayed in Castelo "albergue" last year. Nothing much there but you can purchase beer, wine, soda etc. from the owners. Two dormitories, very quiet, terrace, possibility of cooked dinner, restaurant/bar at least 500m down on the main street, pharmacy and that's it. One taxi service also in the village.
