Taking a Bus - Madrid to Vilalbo

Time of past OR future Camino
June 2015
I am looking at taking the bus from Madrid to Vilalbo to start my camino. Does anyone have any advice on what bus service(s) I need to take?

Any other suggestions or advice on how to accomplish this would be appreciated.

Hi there,
I'm wondering if you meant Vilalba/Villalba (the difference in spelling is gallego/castillian variation). This is a town on the Norte, about 100 km from Santiago, so I'm guessing that's what you mean. I see one overnight bus, leaving at midnight from the south bus station, or 30 minutes later from the airport.

But it's probably going to be easier to get a bus to Lugo, and then transfer, because there's a good supply of buses from Lugo to Villalba, see here: http://www.arriva.es/documentos/horarios/2012-2013/9-Lugo-Vilalba.pdf

And I see about 5 buses a day from Madrid to Lugo, all leaving from the Estacion Sur, which is a very inconvenient place to get to from the Madrid airport.

So, is it Villalba that you want to get to? And if so, are you going to be landing in Madrid and then heading straight out? Buen camino, Laurie

An alternative is to take the Renfe train to Lugo.

Chamartin Renfe Station and Estacion Sur are easy to access from the Madrid Airport using the Metro.
