Time of past OR future Camino
June 22nd (2016)
Hello, I'm 18 years old and I will be doing the Camino for the first time this summer. I will be starting in Leon on the 22nd of June and i am eagerly looking forward to the experience. I am open to any advice and suggestions for my first time on the Camino.

First, welcome, and I hope you have a great camino.

Second, most of the common questions already have been answered. If, after you have done some preliminary work, you find you still are uncertain about something, then is a good time to ask about that.

Third, avoid asking about absolutes like 'what is best ...' or what the weather will be more than three days away :).

Thomas, we wish you well. Spend time reading forum threads.
The Camino is a safe place for you to go by yourself and experience independence, have adventure plus fun.
Step into cathedral before you leave Leon, look out for starting point of Camino del Salvador at Paradores, keep Cruz de Ferro in your mind's compass etc etc
Be yourself.
Buen Camino.

Ensure there is plenty of room in your shoes as your feet will swell with the heat. Learn how to lace them correctly to avoid your feet slipping around inside. Nothing worse than having your toes banging on the front of the toe box, and no quicker way to bring and end to your adventure.
Good travelling.
Buen Camino

I think we veterans on the Forum would all recommend that you scroll to the top right corner of this page and "search" for previous postings on virtually any subject imaginable. Try a few keywords, like buses, or trains, or backpacks, hiking boots, or trekking poles, or sleeping bags....etc. The search window simply says "Search..."

Ivar has done a splendid job of implementing Google to use as the onboard search engine. So, if the subject of your question is here, somewhere on the thousands of Forum postings and threads, you can find it. Have fun wading through all the to and fro debate.

We love answering questions and helping each other. That is what we do, and why we participate regularly. But, in truth, most all basic questions have been asked and answered repeatedly over the years. So, I suggest you try running searches and proceed from there.

No one is trying to dissuade you from asking questions. I am merely suggesting that you use the built-in and very good "self-help" functionality first.

I hope this helps.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
