Never did like Caldas de Reis, nothing rational, we just bever hit it off. Looking for a closeby refuge and should one mush on another 5.5k you stumble across Parrillada Antonio in O Cruceiro. On the highway but recommended in Brierley and by Spanish pilgrims. Anyone stayed there?

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.

I stayed in the new municipal? and good albergue - good facilities by the "roman" bridge on the way out of Calda last year. It is run by the english owner of the bar/restaurant on the corner neaby. Good food, historic area by the the tree lined scenic river. I had stayed elsewhere in Calda previously and like you was not impressed with that area. Buen camino.
