Transport around Salamanca

Hi all,

we are planning to walk 5 days of the via de la plata in late September, based around Salamanca so we can store luggage there.

we are planning to travel from Salamanca to Fuenterroble de salvatierra to start. Movelia (https://www.movelia.es/es/buscar_comprar/) suggests on the Monday morning there is a 7:30am bus with LineCar to Guijuelo, from where we could take a taxi to Fuenterroble. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on whether Movelia is a reliable site? My mum’s lived in Spain 20 years and hasn’t heard of it!

We’re planning to walk 5 days, so as far as Zamora, I think there are quite a few buses that run from Zamora back to Salamanca. Any advice much appreciated!

Hi, Chanbec,

Welcome to the forum!

I think Movelia is a reliable site. I have used it frequently to check out schedules and find the names of some of the tiny bus companies across Spain. It must be some kind of third party vendor. But I have never bought a ticket through them.

I had never heard of Linecar, but I learned that is the new name of a line that I am more familiar with, which used to be AUPSA. This change took place earlier this year according to local news. Looks like the Salamanca to Bejar line has various departures, but the faster trips are likely the ones designated with a (1) (stop only in Guijuelo and another place).

I’ve attached a screen shot.

As far as Zamora to Salamanca, yes, you are right there are lots of buses. I’ve attached a screen shot of the schedules.

Zamora and Salamanca are two beautiful small Spanish cities. Are you continuing a walk that ended in Fuenterroble? I’m just curious how you came up with those five days to walk.

Buen camino, Laurie

Thank you so much, this is massively helpful!

I had actually planned to start in Salamanca and go to Granja de Moruela but Mundicamino isn’t offering luggage transfer on the Via de la Plata this season. My mum is in her 70s and is spending 10 days in the U.K. with me before we head to Spain so walking with backpacks isn’t an option! Doing 2 days walk into Salmanca and then 3 days on I can carry everything we need.

I think that from Zamora we’ll come back and complete the remaining pilgrimage in two separate stages. We’ve completed a Camino on the Camino portugues from Ponte de Lima and also the Camino del Alba which starts from where my mum lives in Javea and joins up with the Camino de la Lana

Lookup Blabla cars on the Internet. A ride share arranging service. Im using them on Monday next to travel between Malaga and Seville. 10 euros. And a friendly chat along the way.
