hello kathy,

welcome to the forum.

take a local train from san sebastian to hendaye, then another train to bayonne, and a third train to sjpdp. these are short trips. i believe this is the only way to get to sjpdp unless you want to take a taxi which is quite expensive.

good luck and buen camino.

Until December 14, 2013 see this current TER line 62 timetable for trains from Bayonne to SJPdP.

If by chance you need accommodation in Bayonne there is no albergue as such but the Maison Diocesaine Saint Leon provides simple dorms for pilgrims. See >> http://caminodesantiago.consumer.es/maison-diocesaine-saint-leon . The site lists an email address.

Also the Monte Carlo, 11 rue Hugues, is a small, inexpensive hotel conveniently close to the rr station (GareSNCF). Here is their web which also lists an email address >> http://hotel-montecarlo.allcommerces.com/.

Next morning you can easily catch the early TER line 62 train to SJPdP.

Bon Voyage and Buen Camino,

MM

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

There are several buses everyday (except Sunday?) from the San Sebastian bus depot to Bayonne. Once in Bayonne it is a short walk from the bus stop to the train station, you can also easily visit the cathedral in Bayonne on your walk.

There are 2 buses from Donosti/ San sebastain to Baiona/Bayona/Bayonne run by Pesa.

Bus times are at 9 am & 14:30. The ride takes 1hr30 mins.

Buen Camino!

When I was in San Sebastian last July to take the 9am bus I found a new bus service that left around 8am with just 2 stops, one in Biarritz and the other in Bayonne, the bus travelled on the autoroute and not the convoluted route along the corniche. Sorry I don't recall the name of the service and it was something very new and maybe just during the summer season. There were only 2 of us on that bus!!!
You will need to have a ticket for the PESA bus and you will have to go a ticket office just to the right and north of the bus stop area, the office doesn't open until around 8am but there is never a problem with getting a seat.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
