When are you traveling? Yes you can buy ticket at station or in advance online ( which may be slightly cheaper but you need to state which train time your getting). From Station to airport it's about 5 minutes walk to nearest bus stop then 30 minutes to airport (slightly longer during peak/ summer times). I go on plane alot from Vigo to Barcelona with Ryanair as the tickets are really cheap & service arrives on time. I'm promoting the Camino Catalan alot which now starts from Barcelona too.

Can you tell me if there is a guide book for the Camino Catalan?
Will it be too hot to walk this route during August?

Thank you for the very useful information. It's quite difficult from Australia to find train timetables as I can only find the trains run by Renfee which aren't very frequent. Are there local ones I could get. Thank you again

RENFE is the train provider in Spain. There appear to be some 20 trains a day from Santiago to Vigo https://venta.renfe.com/vol/search.do?c=_89WR One ought to suit your needs.

There is one available from the Amics in Barcelona (http://www.camisantjaume.com/guia.html) but it is now almost 10 years old. I would update it from the mundicamino and gronze websites, as well as from the threads on this Forum. I have walked it in September and found the heat considerable but you should look at temperature charts for Catalonia and figure out if this works for your heat tolerance. I would urge that you carry plenty of water as there are not frequent village stops as on the Francese, and that you make a point of starting out by 6.00 am and plan to finish your day shortly after noon, if at all possible.
