Vodafone or other SIM card services

Usually it seems like SIM cards are strictly for ONE country only - I'm planning on buying a Vodafone SIM card at the airport in Madrid and am assuming I'll be off-service for the time I'll be in France (under 12 hours) in SJPP (unless by some chance it is known to cover in this area). That part I can live with, but what happens after the 30-day contract is up? Will service continue beyond 30 days if I keep topping up or do I need to buy a new SIM card, say, in Ponferrada if I figure I'll need 40 days of service? I can't find answers on the Vodafone site.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I buy one Vodafone sim card and use it for 6-8 weeks, so I'm not sure about the 30 day thing.
I've never had to sign a contract of any kind.
I usually pay 15-20 euros, then add time as I need it.
When in France, I'm off service, but that's only for 2 days so I don't worry much about it.

Ideal pocket guides for during and after your Camino. Each weighs just 40g (1.4 oz).

The Vodafone Tourist SIM will renew automatically for the next month provided you have enough credit on your account. http://prepaid-data-sim-card.wikia.com/wiki/Spain

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Once the phone is kept topped up it will renew into the next month Vodafone usully send a text and tell you when your credit is running out for the month they send it 2/3 days before its due. I'm on the same deal.
