Walk out the door and begin a Camino

Hi all
This is my first post but I have been glued to this forum for days since the realisation that all the Google searching I’d been doing for blogs on the Vezelay route often returned a post for this forum. What a wealth of information – much I didn’t know that I needed to know! e.g. thanks LesBrass for the Thursday in St Astier post - I’m now trying to juggle stages to get there. This has been made a lot easier by yesterday having had a blinding flash (and some Google translate) on how to use the stage planner at the front of MMDD.

Many we met on both previous caminos had been able to simply leave from their own home and start walking. This, for Aussies, is a truly novel and enticing prospect. My partner and I will start in Sept 2019 from the front door of the house of camino friends (that’s a great story in itself!) near Tonnerre, through Auxerre to Vezelay and via the Nevers route on to Pamplona. We’re excited already. I know it’s nearly a year away but the planning and reading and thinking and researching are just such great fun. I will keep watching this forum and maybe will have “talked” to some of you and then see you on the road next Sept. Bon chemin/buen camino to all you lucky souls walking now.

:-D Makes me happy just sharing your anticipation! It's been 2-1/2 months since I finished my 2nd Camino (Portuguese that time). I thought I was complete, saying I probably won't do another, but revisiting the forum has my feet (and heart) itching to walk again. My advice, don't do too much prep; show up and enjoy the unexpected.
