Sarria to Santiago - May 2014
St. Jean Pied de Port to Pamplona - Starting September 27, 2015
This is my second Camino walk. Walked from Sarria to Santiago in 2014. Will be leaving SJPP early on the 27th and would love a buddy for the first day only. I am a bit apprehensive but only about that first day! Anyone interested in company. I am a quiet person so not into chatting! Thanks.

Mary: Please post an update of your Camino when you are done. I'm planning my walk for Sep/Oct 2017 and would be most interested in how your walk went. Weather, lodging, your kit and all the sundry other things that make up the walk. I'll be 80 when I start and will schedule 60+ days. Please, if you would be so kind as to include your experiences that stand out. Thank you in advance and may you have a great Camino and all of God blessings that accompany it.

Buen Camino

Hi Mary, I'm afraid I'll be a couple of days ahead of you (leave SJPP on the 25th) but hope to see you somewhere on the Way...my pace won't be fast. Good luck with finding a walking companion for your first day, if you're staying in SJPP the night before maybe you could sound out people at the Albergue? Buen Camino :)

Good evening SafariGirl: I'm going to jump in on this thread as I replied above I'm very interested on the experiences that you will have during your walk in Oct/Nov. In addition to the above requested information, if you would include the most relevant women issues that you had to address as I hope that my wife will be accompanying me. I'm getting deeper into the planning stage and I'll be working on the actual stages soon. I'm looking at somewhere between 8 and 12 miles a day 14 to 19 km with the 16-19 km the longest. I'm old and slow and just want to enjoy the walk. Buen Camino and may you enjoy the blessing of God and stay safe

Hello Mac,
I can't promise you a 'blow by blow' account :) but will happily feedback any specific things that strike me on the walk (eg: "Aha, I wish I'd known that before I set off!").
Like your planning, I initially had in mind that I would do a specific distance each day to ultimately get me to Burgos in 2 weeks (that's as long as I have) but my strategy changed in the planning and now my intention is to do whatever feels right on the day...and trust that it will be the Camino I need at this time. (Through this wonderful forum and the helpfulness of its members I've learned that I can easily get transport to Burgos from wherever I end up after 2 weeks).
The things I've done in advance are to book hostel beds at Orrison (refuge.orisson@wanadoo.fr) & Roncesvalles (info@alberguederoncesvalles.com), after that I'm trusting that my Rother guide (another great resource found on this forum) and the knowledge of fellow pilgrims will give me all the info I need about accommodation on the way.
My advice would be 'Think about the specific questions/concerns you have and then search this forum or post a new question.' My experience is that people are very willing to share the knowledge they have, for which I've been very grateful.
Buen Camino, when it comes :)

Good morning SafariGirl: Thanks for the reply. I too, will make reservations in Orrison and Roncesvalles and than what happens will happen. It's Gods walk. If I do 5 miles or 10 miles I don't really care. It will be what he wants and tells me to do. Take care and be safe and enjoy your walk.

Buen Camino with Gods blessings

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
set not the daily distance, but the final destination..

My two adventurers have spent their summer on the camino, and walked into Santiago this morning. They watched many a traveler speed on by, and caught up with them groaning and giving up with sprains, blisters or other issues a couple of days later. There is a wealth to see on the way. Stop, experience it, and experience the True Camino. It's a walking and spiritual marathon, not a sprint. My son, by the way, is 10, and has walked from St Jean. Buenos Camino
