Walking in autumn

Hi to all you regular contributors,
My wife and I are from Florida. We are 60ish, and planning to walk in the fall. Our schedules only allow us to take two weeks total. So we will plan to only walk from Sarria to SdeC. We are flexible as to dates so my question is when is late enough to avoid the hoards of people and early enough to avoid really horrid weather?
Secondly, are boots a necessity for this part of the camino, or are trekker shoes enough?
We would love to walk from SJPDP however we have learned to be grateful for the gifts we have been given. Papajohn

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

You have 12.5% of the years pilgrims arriving in Santiago in September compared with 23% and 28.5% in July and August. September is third most popular month with the numbers dropping to 6.5% for October. The figures would suggest that late September / early October would be a good time to undertake the walk. The weather while unpredictable especially in Galicia should still be OK.

Secondly, are boots a necessity for this part of the camino, or are trekker shoes enough?
This part if the camino while hilly is on roads and well made paths. Trekker shoes (meaning outdoor walking/training shoes I imagine) should be enough provided they are worn in.

Buen Camino
