Walking in October

Hi all my son and I are planing to start our walk starting oct. 16, any advice would be welcome.
Especially advice on what towns have hotels and how to book them.

Any advice on weather

I have walked in October on two occasions.

It is unpredictable. I have been frozen, wet and sunburned.

You need to make sure you have a good waterproof coat and hat. Gloves. Not sure you would need thermal underwear.

But be prepared to sling them on your rucksack because it could also be warm. In the mountains you might need to go to bed in some of your day clothes if you take a lightweight sleeping bag.

Check the forcasts for the upcoming week but remember that even these can be dead wrong.
