Time of past OR future Camino
Have walked the camino frances and plan to walk the camino Portuguese starting from Lisabon 25/3
Interested in hearing if anyone has any plans on walking from Lisabon around this time. I walked the Camino Frances about the same time 2 years ago and there was many pilgrims walking that route but I understand that there are much less people walking from Lissabon. I have seen one person but hope there are more and that the Albergas are open.

Hi Tomas, I will be walking from the 26th April from Lisbon. Walked the Camino Frances in September 2016 so unsure what weather we will get. Might be warmer than you found on the Frances in April as is further south.

Sorry -Just realised you are walking March not April. You will be finished walking before I start.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Hi Tomas, My wife and I will start the Camino Portuguese on March 27 from Lisbon. We might see you on the road.

I am starting in Porto, 10th of April. Maybe we'll see each other.

The albergues will definitely be open in May. There is just one hostel on the way in Tomar, all the rest are albergues, there is also Casa da Misericordia in Sao Joao, check futher info. Check for accommodation here, was told that info in Portuges is updated more frequently: www.vialusitana.org. I walked from Santarem in late Oct, there were people on the road, 2-3 people on the same day walking from Lisbon, 5-9 after Tomar/Coimbra. May is a great month to walk, will be warm/hot but not blistering hot. Walked from Porto to Santuago in Apr-May last year, was great! After Porto is busy in May but not crowded, plenty of accommodation options, no need to rush for the bed. Very relaxed feel and great people.

Along the coast in early March. Most albergues are open, but other accommodations like pensões and hotels are closed - off season! You can expect a lot of rain and strong winds at the coast. Have a look:

Further north you will have more rain. Galicia is called the "bath tube" of Spain.
