So happy to report we flew from Denver to London Gatwick on Norwegian and then from Gatwick to Biarritz on Easy Jet and we were able to take our backpacks on board as carry on and our sets of walking poles in my husband’s backpack with no problems and no need to check bags. The shuttle by Express Bourricot from the Biarritz airport to St.Jean was very nice but you have To have booked a reservation for this.Hope this helps because I had a lot of concerns beforehand. We are having dinner now in St Jean and heading out tomorrow morning!!!❤️❤️❤️The pilgrim office is amazing. So so very helpful and we filled our water bottles up, got our shells and lots of information about the route and the albuergues.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

Hi, Alvin, and welcome to the forum. :)

Feel free to start a unique thread with any questions and concerns you have; you will have a better response.

Another thing is that this forum has a search engine and a huge database of subjects which are available for you to explore at your leisure. For example: If you plug the question "Where should I start the Camino Norte?" into the search engine, you will get a large number of threads on this topic to read through.

We are here to help and encourage you. And believe me, feeling overwhelmed and anxious are common emotions that a goodly percentage of forum members have experienced as beginners... and even repeaters :).

Thanks Dave,
I am what they call a bit of a technophobe so have no idea how to start a unique thread. but will try and figure it out, will do a search and see what comes up. Appreciate you replying to me. Helps a lot. I probably should have picked a more popular route as the camino del norte seems less travelled.

  1. At the top of each page of the forum is a menu item marked 'Forums'. Click on it.
  2. On the 'Forums' page, near the top, on the right hand side, you will see an orange 'button' labeled "Post Thread"
  3. Click on that button.
  4. A sub menu will open. It is labeled "Post Thread In...." The menu lists all of the various sub forums.
  5. Pick one of the menu items that is most closely related to your topic. For example, if you have a question related to gear or clothing, scroll down the menu and select "Equipment Questions" which you will see listed under "Pilgrim Topics Related to All Routes".
  6. If you can't quite find a menu item that fits, then choose the name of the Camino route you are planning on walking. The moderators can move your thread if they see a more appropriate sub forum.
  7. When you select a menu item, another page will open. This page is where you will write the subject and content for your question or comment. It is pretty easy to do.
Give it a shot. You actually already started a thread when you introduced yourself the first time around. :)

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
