I want to thank you in advance for your advice on my questions. I have walked the camino once before but it was in the early autumn. The weather was perfect and I may have been lucky. I want to walk for Leon to Santiago in March this time with my son and I am unsure of what to expect. I think that we are fairly well prepared for rain but I need your advice on the probability of cold and snow as well as warm (hot) weather.

Your experiences will be very appreciated.

Hi David,
That's great that you are planning a walk with your son! I have also walked in autum and agree that it is a great time to walk the camino.
There is an great little profile map of the camino Frances here that will show you the high places at Rabanal and at O'Cebreiro. These are the two places you could - and probably will - experience snow. http://www.aucoeurduchemin.org/spip/IMG ... s_voir.pdf

There are excellent weather records on Peter Robin's site that give 30 year averages for towns along the camino. The stats for Leon are:
Daily ave temp: 7.1 Ave max 12.8 Ave min 1.5 Days of rain 6

There is an old Castilian saying: "nueve meses de invierno y tres meses de infierno" - "nine months of winter and three months of hell."
You can find another excellent page on the weather for Leon here:

I don't think you need to be too concerned about heat during March but would take sunscreen to protect you and your boy from the wind and the chill.

Hi,
Planning to continue and complete the final stage to Santiago in May, re-starting in Burgos, are there any reports of weather conditions for this stretch during May? Particularly across the Meseta, any information shall be gratefully received. Herbse.[
