Hope you can share a moment in your Camino travels that caused you to wonder if "Murphy" actually exists

Here's one I recently experienced

I am starting my Camino May 22 coming into Madrid the 19th .I was ticketed to return from Madrid on Iberia 6275 on July 16 to the States .
Two days ago I received a robo call from Iberia airlines informing me that my July 16th flight had been cancelled and that I was rebooked on a fight returning to the US May 23rd ...

I won't go into what happened after I received this notification , suffice to say that I fixed my flight schedule and my vocal chords are healing nicely

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Oh 'Murphy' exists alright! Not the Camino but back in 2007 just days before we were to fly out to Kenya we got a bizarre call in the middle of the night from our African airline letting us know that the airplane which were booked to fly on had crashed, killing all on board. We were then reassured that the airline was providing a replacement airplane 'not to worry' and to 'have a good day'

I thought it was a hoax until I checked the news. Our flight went ahead in the 'replacement' airplane from Nairobi to Jo'burg and consisted of dodging potholes on takeoff and a most spectacular landing in severe crosswinds.

Hahaha, Fred .. ah, Murphy's Law ... how funny it will be if you meet a wonderful female pilgrim and both decide to move on to Muxia after Santiago and then stay in a small hotel to sip margaritas on the veranda under the moonlight to the romantic sound of the surf, crashing against the shore .. so you phone up the company to move your flight back to the 23rd again and end up speaking to the same person .........

Buen Camino!!

I learned murphy..loves to hear two phrases..
Never say in distress
What now..
What next..
And never throw your arms up while uttering these..

Its a signal!

Holy moly!

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Wow!

Hi murphy-fans,
thanks for your stories. I considered well going to my starting point by train, to be really cool and relaxed for the journey to start the long walk. And now this train strike is announced just for when I was gonna leave. I also made a reservation for my first 2 nights to be rested (which cannot be refunded) and now I just can't seem to get there on that day! My nerves just went rollercoasterwise, and I just realized it's Friday the 13th
not sure how to solve this
thanks for reading me
buen camino to all

And scenarios such as this are the reason I prefer one way tickets, last minute train bookings and no hotel bookings.

The camino works well with that approach.

well yes! thank you for this reply. This is my first lesson learned, even before leaving: let go of fear & too much control.... ;-) One reason why I am going is to get out of my comfort zone, so, hello Camino!

And the good news is: I could cancel my first night , got my train ticket refunded and I could buy an airplane ticket which is cheaper. Ánd will be picked up at the airport. I love Murphy ;-)

thanks for reading me.

It seems that whenever I look at one-way tickets, they cost a lot more than 1/2 of round trip tickets. This is from Mexico or the US to Europe. Am I missing something here?

One approach is to search separately for the cheaper one way flights in both directions. Then to combine the two suitable dates when searching for a round trip fare.
You will often find the round trip fare discounts down.
