Where best to find a pilgrim staff?

Hi to everybody,my name is brendan and i am planning on walking from Le Puy to Finisterre/Muxia beginning on Jan 17th 2006. Is anyone else thinking of leaving around this time or has anyone done so in previous years? Was wondering where i could find a decent quality pilgrim staff. Somewhere in Le Puy would be ideal as im not too sure about plane regulations for transporting such items. Does anyone have any suggestions? Love the website by the way. It has been a big help to me.

Walking Staff

I can't help with a place in Le Puy to buy one but I have taken a full height shepards crook on a plane and even with today's heightened security wthere was no problem.
Different airlines have different policies and the first after some debate had me put it in the hold (I had packed it in a long cardboard tube and made the packing easy to get into to show it to the check-in people). The second airline let me take it on board and stored it for me on the plane somewhere.
