All the better for illuminating midnight walks in search of sustenance . . .
Ha, easy for me to find it in the dark, only 19 steps from my bedroom's door!
. . . A change of avatar, indeed . . .
Oh, you have a good looking avatar!

Now, here is the status: Miss Weather is having another "wet hair day" here, just had a big chubasco (squall) a few minutes ago, and no complaints because we need the water in my area.

To all caminantes currently heading to Santiago de Compostela: Ánimo! La luz de Dios alumbra su camino.

I am really longing for spring now but the winter is still here. Tre weather is wonderful so some snow is thawing but the nights are very cold so there is still much ice around. Today I found some small signs of spring

Beautiful early spring day and happy to have time for a good long walk today. Out my front door, along the Fraser River to the unique little community of Finn Slough. Lots of bird life along the way - thrilled to see a peregrine falcon!

A mixed week!!
Tuesday we met with our 'Camigo' friends from the forum. We took a short walk before hand near Topsham. There was a heron feeding on the marsh - that is the white spot in the centre of the photo, just on the grass.
Friday we went for a local walk and found these white violets on the bank side. The ancient circular field was also clearly visible. It could be Celtic or Saxon by its shape.
Sunday, snow again. About 25cms of the stuff in our garden so we are sitting by the log fire again ......

Miss Weather cooperated, awesome day here with a productive workout, good paced walk next to the Great Pacific Ocean.

Okay Miss Turtle, don't stop walking. To all caminantes que la luz de Dios alumbre su camino.

We live in Devon. More snow overnight so sitting by our log fire again until the road is passable.
Hmm. Will I get there with only the Devon clue? Gosh, last time I was in Devon... i had hitched with three friends from college in Edinburgh, and we had a wonderful trip, finally ending up in Cornwall working in a hotel for the summer, and I can still remember the cream teas! We earned £7 per week, and the same in tips. Those were the days indeed...

......

Tia is that the circular walk that you can do at the edge of town around the estuary (was it called the goat walk) ? We used to go there at weekends and walk when the children were little... you could stop half way at the lookout to spot birds... that brings back so many memories

We did our usual circuit around our home... almost 10km and a gain of around 230m. (we walked up one side of the valley, down and up the other side). I'm thinking I should do some hill walking if I want to walk the Primitivo! It's almost spring in SW France but it's slow in arriving and wetter and colder than normal.

Yes it is. It is called the Exe Trail and now has improved boarding and more bird watching points. It might have been called the goat walk way back. Glad it brings back memories for you ☺

Still bitterly cold and Eastern wind so staying inside.

Yesterday I was stupid enough to venture outside for a 17 km hike in very exposed, flat and windy countryside. The 'Beast from the East' was a real killer. I did wear a beanie but still came home with a splitting headache and a numb face. You did the smart thing.

We did the same yesterday , we walked true the parks in Den Haag and Scheveningen true the dunes.
Wish you well,Peter.

Just finished another great walk, fast-paced, gorgeous day, sunny, temperature 68f/20c, and no winds. Time to say adios to the Hibernal Solstice, and say bienvenido to the Vernal Equinox (arriving tomorrow in the Northern Hemisphere at 0915 my local time). To all caminantes currently en el camino and those in training and sustainment mode, good luck, y que la luz de Dios alumbre su camino.

A nice long flat walk along Sturgeon Bank on the Fraser River. Huge flock of snow geese across a part of the path. They are wintering longer and longer here. In past years they've usually left by the end of February.

Long time since I've posted photos on this thread! Most of my recent walks have been of the functional/ getting from A to B variety. However, this week we had a little break in County Fermanagh and walked along the Cuilcagh mountain trail and boardwalk. Cold and windy, but great to be in the hills again.

This was the view out my window today, and as I haven't been able to walk much (being chained to the desk), it at least made me feel OK about not going anywhere. No-one here gets alarmed by these fires, which mystifies me - and this was a big one, roaring and crackling its way up the hill so that it sounded a lot nearer than it actually was.

Miss Weather gave me a break and I was able to take care of my walk. But I could see rain clouds moving this way, a dark morning here. Buena suerte y que la luz de Dios alumbre su camino.

@Theatregal : love those geese.
Yes! Me too! When the snow geese first arrive for the season, I have a "birds eye" view. They spend a lot of the mornings in the farm fields across from my home. Over the 4 or 5 months they change their pattern and flock to different areas throughout the day. Right now they spend most of the night in the field, leaving noisily at dawn.

You are welcome Have you lived in this area @Jill81 ?
Yes, I was born in Vancouver and at at one point lived in Steveston for a while. I’ll be visiting the area in a few weeks time and hope to fit in a walk along Sturgeon Bank. It is such a different landscape from where I live now in France, with the added bonus of fish and chips down by the pier!

spring is here, today. Who knows about tomorrow? I set off on an adventure. It did not turn out as I had planned, but I still got my 10.5k in. Outside the city, plenty of fresh air and blue sky. The first photo tells a story from long ago. Milestones marked the distance from the General Post Office in Dublin City Centre... The second one is a reminder of more lovely colours to come.

18 kilometres training walk with full pack.
Two circular walks from my house.
Glorious sun.
Sooo nice.

Since Norway is a vey long country we can have very different weather at the same time. In the most northern parts of the country there is now a terrible weather. It is snowing, strong winds, avalanches, major roads are closed, communities isolated and people evacuated. But in the south the weather is fantastic, the sun is shining all day long.. still plenty of snow...

Thank you Miss T for the good looking photos by the sea. Good timing, I like the photo with the pier during low tides (I grew up on the beach and my favorite time was during low tides, this is where all the action is, the low tides display sea life for all of us to see--and for the sea birds to eat). Again, Muchas Gracias.

No walking here
It is so wet that our traditional walk up the hill with the cross, finishing with a hilltop service, was cancelled as it was unsafe - very steep grassy hill and with track and the track at the bottom was flooded out.
It is the first time we can remember that the cross has not been 'planted' on the hill top and illuminated so that it can be seen across town and from the motorway.

On this side of the world, another good, slow-paced walk under heavy fog, low-vis from start to finish. This morning I did not wait for Miss Weather to take care of the fog. One hour after returning it is still foggy outside. Lots of rabbits crossing the trail in the area where I took this [foggy] photo, my duty in life is to leave all wildlife alone, so I change my course and move on. To all believers, have a good "Sabado de Gloria" and for all others have a "Buen Sabado." To all my fellow caminantes heading to Santiago de Compostela, ánimo, la luz de Dios alumbra nuestro camino.

Tuesday this week I took the train to Copenhagen, Denmark. I had a lovely day, ate nice food, had a Carlsberg and walked around in town (22 km). It was past lunch when I remembered to take some pictures..

Feliz Domingo de Pascua, Happy Easter Sunday. Good walk this morning on a lonely road, even my friends the birds and rabbits were absent, extremely quiet, the only noise was made by my baston or walking wooden stick hitting the ground and the carabiners on my backpack from time to time. Again, a foggy morning, but expect Mister Sun to show up today. To all caminantes, Happy Easter Sunday, Feliz Domingo de Pascua, y que la luz de Dios alumbre su camino.
