Hi
As I'm leaving home tomorrow to Barcelona to start my Camino on Tuesday August 12th, I can't figure out where is the bus to Pamplona, and which company?
According to ALSA website, the bus to Pamplona leaves from "Barcelona Nord". According to Monbus (Vibasa) website there bus leaves from "Barcelona Sants". I do priffer the ALSA bus, because they have more buses, which means I might get to Pamplona late afternoon, and not late evening. Can anyone please help me out here?

If you have Google maps, type in "Alsa Barcelona Nord" and it will show you. Here's a screen shot:ImageUploadedByCamino de Santiago Forum1407624381.407775.jpg

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Thank you Kanga. So that means I better make up my mind with which one I would like to travel to Pamplona, because I can't just get there and get on the first bus that have a sit. Am I correct? Do you have any idea or suggestion? I am flying into Barcelona at 10:35am.

Barcelona is connected by Renfe to destinations such as Pamplona, Santiago, and Madrid.

Barcelona is connected by Renfe to border crossings at Irun/Hendaye and Port Bou/Cerbère where there is break of gauge connections to the SNCF rail system in France.

Renfe and SNCF have recently started rail service direct from Barcelona to Paris.

Do you need to clear customs etc? IIRC the bus ride from the airport to Plaça de Catalunya is more or less forty minutes. The map shows a 1.5km walk to the Estació d'Autobusos Barcelona Nord so figure 20+ minutes. I'm guessing you haven't been to Barcelona before so increase all the times a bit. You might want to stop and grab lunch before getting on the bus. Or at least pick up some pastries when passing a shop.

So figure out when you might be able to easily make it to the station and then see which leaves closest to your time.

Whariwharangi has posted the definitive reply I think. I love this forum.

If you look at the Vibasa schedule you'll find the bus leaves from Estacio Nord and makes a stop at Estacio Sants.

The ALSA bus leaves from Estacio Nord (and goes to Zaragosa where you transfer, probably to a Conda bus).

So you could go to Estacio Nord and catch either the Vibasa or the Alsa bus ... whichever leaves first.

If you know the timings are right you can catch the Vibasa bus at estacio Sants (or the train for that matter).

Be aware at the train/ metro from the airport, especially at the Sants or at stops where a lot of people leave the train. The metro is the workingplace of a lot of thieves, they travel to and from on the same ticket all day and rob someone at every stop. The airport bus is more secure, not a good place for robbers since have to buy a new ticket for each trip.
Wish you a buen camino!

One thing. When I glanced at the schedule the afternoon bus gets to Pampolona at I think 9.30pm. Do you want to arrive that late? I'd consider booking a room in Barcelona. Enjoy the city . Then next morning catch the early bus.

Hello to all,
I thought to let you all know how I did it, so "next generations" can have the info:
Landed in BCL airport at 13:30, took the Aerobus (5.90 Euro) to its last station (Pl. Catalunya), and walked 20 min to the Central Bus Station Nord (Estacio d'Autobusos Barcelona Nord) near the Arc de Triomf.
I had a reserved ticket to Zaragosa for 16:00 on an ALSA bus, and a reserved ticket on a Conda bus from Zaragosa to Pamplona. Pay attention that Zaragosa has more then one train/bus station. If you make a connection (with a bus, or with a train, like I did on the way back from Pamplona), it better be the same station...
It took me 6.5 hr all together from Barcelona to Pamplona with rest stops on the way, connections and driving and stopping into many nice little towns... I couldn't get a ticket on a fast and direct train to Pamplona because going on the Camino was a last minute decision and doing. So happy about it!

Thanks to all the good info and good advice!
Buena Camino
