Where to start

I`m considering to walk el Camino del norte in the middle of august. My problem is that I have only two weeks to spare, and I understand it will take about a month to walk the entire route. Does anyone have experiences with starting in the middle of the route? Any advices about how to get there? I would be very greatful if anyone have ideas or suggestions about how to do this.

And one more thing; I think I`ve heard something about it being possible to rent horses and take parts of the tour on horseback. Anyone who know something about that?
