On my third attempt, I have just started the Camino Portugues. First two attempts scuppered by OH's illness and then his broken arm. This time a big thank you to him after my Easyjet flight was cancelled, so we drove 6 hours to Bordeaux to catch a alternative flight. For any who would like to follow, I am trying to sort a Find Penguin trail. The link is here https://findpenguins.com/7eg3seatwh...75?s=9efe379ea026f3b7891fab2898f8727c4c375903

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Sue, I will be following your Camino on Find Penguins. Thanks for sharing the link.
I have not signed up to join, so unfortunately I am unable to reply, but I always enjoy following along, and often relive some of my own memories.
Bom Caminho!

I'm following u. Quick question how did u get from Porto airport to your accommodation

I got a bus to Camhana terminus, then the metro into the centre. There are several ways, depending where your hostel is. Mine was way out of town so I took the metro back (then repeated the next morning as I wanted to start at the cathedral). Buen camino

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Hi Sue!
Have a wonderful walk i loved it!
I don't know your plans for the coastal; but i walked the Espiritual Variant.
It was the best bit of my Camino i think ,apart from Porto!
Buen Camino

Thanks Woody. I'm hoping to walk the Espiritual Varient If I have time (dependent on slightly damaged knee), several people have recommended it.

I'm either having too much fun or am too tired at the end of the day to remember to post every day, so here's a quick catch up.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-

I missed the fact of you walking, Sue. I realised it when I checked in on the 3 musketeers. I have read all your posts and am so glad everything is working out.
We would have loved to walk by the coastal route, but in those distant days - 2013 - the albergue infrastructure was stronger on the inland route. Budget decided! You get what is meant for you. Keep on pacing well, and enjoying every step. Thanks for links to your penguin thingy!

On the Espiritual now. Loving it. A few steep hills on day one, day two, beautiful, even in the rain. Today was supposed to be a rest day, but got a bit carried away exploring, and tomorrow will be taking the Pilgrim boat

Hi Sue!
Yeah hills were a bit steep.
I posted a video and apologised for my language climbing those hills!

Had fun on the boat;i was adopted by two Dutch girls who got my tea and muffin (i think it was a muffin)
Really good atmosphere and a beautiful sunrise ( I sound like an old hippy 🤣 )

I hope you have a trip to remember.
I think i will do it again one day fingers crossed
All the very best
Buen Camino

Vid below doesn't show any of the path or scenery but from the title you can guess it was fun!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Congratulations for starting and bon Camino. I know the feeling since we walked the same route last year after a delay, for obvious reasons, in April 2020 and September 2021. It is a great route. Stay safe, well hydrated, and enjoy your self.

Maybe I’ll see you in Porto? I plan to start there around Sept 21-22 and hike the coastal route.

Hi Sue,
Afraid not. I've already finished, but was not very diligent about keeping up my diary (I sill have one day to complete the writing).
I hope the weather is great for you; you'll pass through some stunning scenery.
Buen Camino
