Options from Bayonne to SJPdP?

Time of past OR future Camino
September 2023
Hello! Thank you to everyone on this forum who so generously gives help to us new pilgrims. I have learned much from you over the last few months. I am almost ready to start my camino…

Now I am in Paris, with a 7:11a train reservation to SJPdP for tomorrow …and have just learned that the Bayonne to SJ portion has been canceled. What might be my options once I get to Bayonne? I appreciate any and all advice!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

I agree with @J Willhaus - There is usually a bus replacement. The cancellation between Bayonne and SJPP happens fairly frequently as the track runs through an area that's pretty remote in some ways. There are often problems with rocks and other debris on the track. As well as pilgrims the train services a few little villages along the way so local people need to make their way home as well.

The bus takes about the same amount of time as the train. You will not be alone - there will be lots of other pilgrims there. My advice is just take the train to Bayonne, as planned and then the replacement bus. Buen camino.

Thank you for your reassurance and explanation of the context. Very helpful!

We will arrive in Biarritz in June 2024. First time! How much is the shuttle from Biarritz to SJPdP?

Here is the website for Exprèss Bourricot. Thé cost depends on how many people are sharing the same shuttle. There is a link with specific information about costs from Biarritz to SJPP and how to book. The costs may not be the same in 2024
