Duffs,

In Saint-Jean the pilgrim office of the Amis du Chemin de Saint Jacques at 39 rue de la Citadelle can provide you with a Credential and on site lodging assistance. Their volunteers help run the albergue at 55 rue de la Citadelle. Recently renovated this is a fine place to stay, but they do NOT take reservations. If their albergue is full they will help you find other pilgrim lodgings when you are on site. They keep up to the minute lists of available space throughout the SJPdP area. The office is a great place to meet and great fellow pilgrims. The office usually stays open for the arrival of the last train. Their telephone is 05 59 37 05 09. In season the pilgrims office is open from 7h30 to 12h30 and then from 13h30 to 22h.

Buen Camino,

Margaret Meredith

You will not need reservations in SJPdP in mid-September. I think Kayola is operated by Orisson, which likes reservations, so consider reserving.

Cheers Falcon,i have already booked Kayola,Orisson say i may book dinner with them for that night, however the Kayola appears to close at 20:00 ??

Know there is some variation here, but in general: How far in advance does one typically need to contact Orisson for a reservation? For other private albuergues along the Camino?

Bernard, the dinner at Orisson is at 18:30 pm, so if you need to get back to Kayola by 20:00, it's possible...although you might not want to leave the party that early!

If you know the date you want to stay at Orisson, I would book when they open reservations for the season. They begin taking reservations for 2014 on 15 November. For other private albergues, you should be fine with one or two days in advance, or even same day.
