I am arriving in Salamanca around 9:00 pm on March 5. I would like to start walking the next day but need to get a pilgrim's credential. Does anyone know where I can get a credential? How early can I pick one up? I have time to stay over one additional day in Salamanca if I need to pick it up later in the day. Thanks for any help you can provide.

If you tell us where you live, we could also tell you where to find one in your home country. Buen Camino! SY

Laura,

They definitely had them at the albergue last year. Think their curfew is 22:00. You could always pop round in the morning at chucking out time (7:30ish)

A day in Salamanca is certainly no hardship.

Buen Camino

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
This searchable google page "Lugares de recogida de Credencial del Peregrino en España" may be handy. Could be revised to include more places, but it is a good idea.
It mentions in Salamanca the "Casa de la Iglesia", where it is apparently the "Delegación de Peregrinaciones", calle del Rosario, 28 (formerly Colegio de Calatrava, it is a historic building, worth visiting).

Thanks for responding so quickly! I live in Dallas, Texas. I know there is an American Pilgrims group in the US, but my flight leaves next Wednesday so I don't think I have time to receive it in the mail.

I got mine by asking the Salamanca tourist info, they gave me the right address.
Buen Camino!

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
A day in Salamanca should be compulsory it is such a beautiful town.
Thanks for the advice Andy and William. I am planning on spending a full day in Salamanca. I have a long flight and a day of rest in a beautiful town is a great idea.

Annie: I start in Salamanca on March 7 (after staying a day in Salamanca for a day). I scheduled 22 days to get to Santiago. This should allow me one rest day or two short days of walking. I then have one day in Santiago and one day in Madrid before flying home. I am looking forward to solitude and new landscapes after walking on the Camino Frances 3 times. I may post a few times if I find wifi, but my plan is to try and disconnect from all of the technology. I remember my first camino in 2004 when I turned my phone off and stuck it in the bottom of my pack for emergencies only (which, of course, never occurred). It was wonderful...

Thanks Laura
I'm sure you'll be able to find solitude if you are looking for it.
Hope weather is on your side too.

Take care
Annie

Have a wonderful Camino Laura. My wife and I intend to start from Salamanca in May 2016, so I would be very interested in hearing which route you take and experiences you encountered.

All the best

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
