Replacing a backpack in Santiago

My son and I had a fantastic time walking the Camino from SJPP to Santiago. We were planning to continue to Finisterre, however the strap to my son's backpack broke. We have temporarily fixed it, but were wondering whether there was a store in Santiago that sold hiking backpacks. As he is planning to continue his travels until the end of July, he was hoping to find a more permanent fix. Thanks!

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Consider taking it to a tailor or shoe repair and just having the strap sewn. There are several in town. You also might check with the many albergues. Sometines pilgrims leave their packs and buy a suitcase for continued travel. There may be a free one around.

Transport luggage-passengers.
From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

To add to the above...you get the C5 and C6 buses at Plaza Galicia... Check the monitors at the various stops arrayed around the Plaza / Square.

Not all buses stop at the three sides serviced with bus stops. The Sanitago TI (at #62 Rua da Vilar) will know which stop to use. That Ti is open on Sunday.

Also, Decathlon is a Europe-wide sports department store. They offer good value for money. Their in-house sports & hiking products carry the "Queucha" product name. I can never go into one without buying something.

I hope this helps,

Tom

Thanks so much for your replies! We will tried to make our way to Decathlon when we get back to Santiago on Thursday. Luckily our temporary fix is holding up as we make our way to Finisterre.
