Hi Griffin..I leave St. Jean Sept 25 (MovinMaggie)

My brother and I are arriving September 6 at Biarritz airport on EasyJet at 13:05. Is anyone else on the same flight that would like to share Express Bourricot transport to St. Jean?

We are resting up at Hotel des Ramparts and leaving early morning on September 8.

Our plans are to walk to Burgos, then must return home. We hope to be back next year to continue on to Santiago.

-Paul

I will be leaving SJPDP on September 5, 2015 God willing!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
I will be leaving SJPDP on September 18th or 19th depending on availability of accommodation at Orisson. I understand from another member that Orission is fully booked for the 18th! Would like to hear from others about what other options there are to reduce that 27 k to Roncesvalles besides overnighting at Hontto or Valcarlos. Travelling with two friends, Janis and Bonnie. Cheers, Lynn

Yikes. Reading this makes me nervous - I did not realize I had to book locations along the el camino in advance. I just planned to stop in Orission and stay somewhere. I clearly need to read up a bit more on this!!!

You don't have to book in advance, only Orisson because its so popular, September is always busy but don't worry I only missed a bed once and that was because I wanted to stay in a particular place. If you stay off the Brierly stages things are easier.
Buen camino

Hi,
I'm a first time pilgrim starting out from sjpdp hopefully on September 15th. Looking forward to an adventure.
Sarah
Hi there, you are most certainly in for that! Be warned it gets under your skin that's why I'm going back a third time!
Buen Camino Reddirtpilgrim!:D

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Hi Michael Islander, do you have a start date yet? Will add you to the list if you tell me where and when?

Join our full-service guided tour of the Basque Country and let us pamper you!
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Well, this is exciting for you all! Just to let you know that I will be on Camino from the beginning of September, offering first aid as usual. (possibly initially getting over a hangover after seeing Saint Mike off on his bicycle Camino ;)).

Will be on the Roncesvalles/Pamplona section from September 2nd and then working west to the Meseta.

This year there will be two of us as I am really pleased to say that I am being joined by veteran pilgrim and hospitelaro, Jenny H, from Australia, who is also trained in first aid (will be so good to have someone to laugh with when one of you screams or whimpers on seeing the tools of our trade! :);))

Mainly based at Castrojeriz but don't be surprised if we appear anywhere from Roncesvalles onwards!

I will be putting up a specific post before leaving - the deal is this - as well as the first aid and pastoral care - if you get stuck, really need help, and we can get to you (we will have a car with us) we will come. Will be checking forum mails regularly so all you would need to do is to send me a pm with location and phone details. (If it is Mad mileage from us we might ask for a fuel donation).

Buen Camino!!

Siom,

My brother and I are flying from the US to Paris CDG. We then fly on Easyjet 3703, arriving Biarritz at 13:05. If you join us on Express Bourricot to St. Jean, that will be a total of 3 passengers. If we could get 1 more person, the price would be a reasonable 20 Euros each.

Is there anyone else on the same September 6 flight?

Thanks Sarah!
Hope to meet up with you on the way.
FYI: I'm 68, and very fit (training by climbing high altitude mts. in Calif.)........BUT..... I still made a promise to my friends and family...."listen to your body". If it says "slow down" or "enough for today ".....then that's what I will do. I'd rather walk at a slower pace and enjoy my surroundings. The Camino is not a competition race. If I make it in 35 days instead of 30, then so be it.

By the way, last August I was touring Spain by myself for 4 weeks. After my tour of Northern, Central and Southern Spain ended, I only had 3 days left before flying home, so I flew up to Santiago and took a bus from Santiago to Azura...then I walked back to to Santiago (25 miles). It took me two days to do it.
The way I saw it, I was a "mini pilgrim".
When I arrived in the main plaza on day two, and saw all the pilgrims there, some jumping with joy that they "made it", and some crying their eyes out that they actually finished, and that their long journey had finally come to an end, I knew that I had to come back and walk the whole Camino. So..... here I am, one year later, training like mad. I keep hearing horror stories about crossing the Pyrenees, so I'm trying to get prepared.
Anyway, sorry fo the long post.
I'm sure we'll meet up somewhere on the Way.
(Camino Frances...starting on Sept. 4th....SJPDP to Santiago....and hopefully to Finistere).

Thanks Sarah!

Hi Donna,
nothing wrong with long posts, you sound like you will be well prepared. I must admit that I found only the first day difficult, started in St Jean at 08.30 and arrived at Roncesvalles at 17.30. The first 3 hours up to Orisson are steep, the rest of the day is almost a constant, long up, up, up! Then a sudden 2 hour descent, which I loved.

Totally worth it, I just hadn't trained enough with my pack and had to go slow. Its wasn't too heavy I just hadn't had a lot of time to train. I live about an hour from the Lake District in the UK and some of the fells there are much steeper so I need to go with a full pack and train some more this time.

The trouble with the horror stories is that you can't know, until you know. Fear of the unknown will get your adrenaline going. I must admit the adrenaline, pure excitement and the good french coffee got me up and over the mountain that day, and it was wonderful. The sense of achievement was unparalleled.
I'm not surprised you came back, once the camino calls you it's useless to resist, she won't stop till you come back.

I do hope we meet, one of the reason for this thread is to help people connect. Worked for me twice before.
Buen camino

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!

David, I'd like to thank you for all that you do. I would love to meet you but I hope I never need you! I'm a nurse and did a little first aid myself during my last two visits. Its really great knowing you are out there if we do need you. You're a true Camino Angel.
Cheers, Sarah

Leaving Orlando, FL on September 15, don't arrive in Barcelona until late on the 16th, so I think I will start from SJPP OR Roncesvalles on the 18th or 19th. If I start in SJPP I plan on walking the Val Carlos route and staying in Val Carlos that first night.

Hi Karen, we may meet! Which is what this thread is all about. I'm in St Jean on the 17th and 18th as I particularly want to stay at Orisson and couldn't get a bed on the 18th, so I start walking on the 19th. I'm at Gite Ultreia in St Jean, you can see my pack above we will probably be at Roncesvalles at the same time too.
Buen camino

Just let me have your name and, date and start place and I will add. Please note this is for Camino Frances.
Thanks and BUEN CAMINO!!!
