Leon to Santiago - some questions

Hello! First time pilgrim here, going the Camino in September from Leon to Santiago. I have a couple of questions and would really appreciate it if someone can help me out.

1) How many days will it take to get to Santiago to Leon at a regular pace? I've been reading various accounts online and some say it is 15 days? Can someone confirm?

2) Is there a service in Leon where I can drop my heavy luggage and pick it up upon my arrival in Santiago weeks later?

Thank you!

Kit, we departed Leon on June 9 and arrived in Santiago on the June 22. We averaged approximately 25km per day although this stretch does have a couple sections that are a bit longer. Our last day was in Pedrouzo which allowed for an early arrival in Santiago. Enjoy every step, Buen Camino!

Sorry, that June 9-22nd included an extra day in Astorga.

The post office is good but the collection office closes on Saturday at 12 noon and is closed Sundays. Ivar who runs this forum offers a storage service and can open on Sunday by appointment. Click on Services tab at the top.

Kit, Not knowing how old you are or your fitness level, I walked this year from 14 to 23 May. I was 69 years old, have since turned 70 and I'm very fit. Enjoy, Buen Camino

Thanks for the tips, everyone! Might do Astorga-Santiago from the 17th to the 30th.

Regarding shipping the bag from Astorga to Santiago via post, is it generally safe? I intend to leave my laptop in the bag since I don't want to bring it on the camino. For peace of mind, is there another option?

Spain is generally speaking a high civilized western country, so the post is as safe as in France, Great Britain, or even USA.
Out of the potential mistakes, technical failures and other bad luck problems, you can trust the Correos to deliver your package in full health promptly.
As already mentioned, Ivar, the forum owner and manager, is offering a storage service in Santiago, very close to the cathedral.

Buen Camino, Jacques-D.

As others already mentioned the Correos has very good service. If you will put your laptop in the package maybe tell the clerk to put on the sign "handle with care" or "breakable items" etc. You don't need to point out there's laptop in there.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I would be very careful with your laptop. 2 friends sent extra clothes via mail from Madrid to Santiago, they never made it and even though they were given a number, they were told by the post office in Santiago that they don't track these parcels. This was in June if this year. Clothes can be replaced at an expense as can a laptop, bats are another issue. At least you have a complete backup someplace. Buen Camino!

Data, not bats. Love auto-correct.

Greetings to all. I posted a few days ago stating that I will begin my first Camino in St. Jean-pied-de-Port on 29 August and that I will take it slow and steady to Santiago de Compostela...
