This private albergue in Ambasmestas between Villafranca del Bierzo and O Cebreiro is a good choice. I stayed there a couple of weeks ago. It is run by a German couple, Sabine and Uli. They are extremely nice, the single beds on the top floor are a plus (there are bunks downstairs), and dinner and breakfast were fantastic! They clearly do this because they love the Camino! My visit was extra special because I was walking with a woman from Germany at the time and they were all three from Bavaria. It was fun getting a little German culture in Spain. I highly recommend Das Animas!

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
