Hi

I've been searching for an up-to-date description of how the queuing system for the Pilgrims Office in Santiago works. I haven't been able to find it, although I'm sure someone posted it on here.

Can someone please point me at it?

Thanks in advance!
Gerald

It was smooth and easy!

Hi Gerald, it's best if you complete the online form for the pilgrim office before arrival. Then once you get a QR code or ququeing number by email they will let you enter when you arrive at the office. You pass the entrance to the garden, past the fountain and down steps. Go left and you will find a counter with a person dispensing numbered tickets. They were doing about 60 compostelas per hour when I was there on 8th Oct. I arrived at 2.15pm and got my compostela about 6pm. I was a bit lucky as a person swapped tickets as she wanted a later time. My advice is go on arrival you can check into your accommodation/eat/whatever when waiting your turn. Hope this is helpful.

My experience... I didn't have a phone, I waited outside in line and after a while they let us in, we went thru the building, courtyard, down the steps and to the left and into the building, stood in another line and go up to the counter where they gave us our number. Since I didn't have a phone they had given me a paper to fill out earlier that I showed to the people giving out the numbers. My buddy had a phone but had some problems with some of the questions when he was trying to get the QR code, they also just gave him a number. When our numbers was called, we got in another short line waiting to go into the office to get our certificates, at this point I gave them the paper I was given to fill out and they used this info to create the certificates. My buddy having the issue with his phone, at the certificate window, they gave him a paper to fill out, had he been successful filling out the form, I assume they would have used that for completing his certificate.

Hello, so my plans have slightly changed after completing the Coastal Portuguese and Finisterre/Muxia caminos on June 13. I now have 2 extra days in Santiago and was wondering where I should head...
The Santiago pilgrim office issued 3,171 Compostelas today. The second time so far this year when the total has been over 3,000. The first was on Good Friday when 3,193 Compostelas were handed out.
