Via Podiensis - May 2024
Hello - I am planning to walk about the first half of the Via Podiensis next month, May 2024. I will start from Le Puy and walk for 16 days. I am flying into Paris and would like to purchase a sim card for my phone. Are there any recommendations for certain carriers who would have better reception in that part of France? Unfortunately my phone is not eSIM compatible so I will need to purchase one on arrival. I would love to do this at the airport when I first arrive if possible. I speak intermediate level French if that makes a difference

Thank you!!

Hi @zellturtle Bonjour.

I've been living in France for the past year - in a rural area. I am with Orange, my husband is with Free mobile. Both have good coverage in France.

There are a number of RELAY stores at CDG airport in Terminals 1 and 2 where you can buy a SIM card.

Don't get Vodaphone, my package didn't work at all after I left Portugal. The saleswoman assured me that It would work in Spain. It didn't.

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

Last year walking from Le Puy I was on Bouygues telecom. (via eSim) it was fine for coverage and data speeds. I think Orange might have better support for English speakers, maybe. They *market* better to English speakers. :) I had to get help from a French guy to help with activating a reload.

Orange is probably preferable, they have a shop in Le Puy.

Hi. I walked from Le Puy to Conques last October. I'm planning to resume in a couple of weeks with the aim of getting to Roncesvalles (or as far as I can). My pilgrim credential is half full with...
