Hello everyone. I know that pre-booking accommodation has been discussed many, many times, so apologies but I wanted to be quite specific. We are walking from Irún to Bilbao in the first week of June 2024 so no holidays to avoid and hopefully not quite peak season but could still be busy. I have...
Kaixo! I walked the Camino Francés a couple of years ago and had the time of my life. I have finally found time to return to the Camino, or at least a section of it, and decided to walk from Irún to Bilbao in June with some friends. I gather that this is one of the most spectacular weeks on any...
Apologies firstly because I know how much this debate comes up and I am certainly a trail runners advocate. However, I understand that Irún to Bilbao is one of the most physically demanding sections of any Camino route, with mud often being an obstacle. Planning on walking from Irún to Bilbao in...
Hi all. It's my chance to pick for a Book Club with my friends next month. As it will mark a year since I did my first Camino, I am thinking about nominating a Camino memoir. Can anyone recommend one that would be appropriate for my friends who are largely uninformed about what the Camino is...

Personally I had a great time re-living some of my Camino closer to home. However, I was lucky to have accommodation nearby and we stayed in Winchester one night. I...

Maybe you're right and I'm paying too much heed to online comments. Still, I would be interested to hear from others about whether they would have rather waited to do this stretch during the traditional season or just go with what I have.
Thanks for your message, namesake. I have actually heard a few mixed reports on this; some people have said it can actually make the experience quite dangerous.
Lift sharing is very popular in Spain; have a look at BlaBlaCar. However, this tends to be greater distances. Is there any reason why she couldn't use public transport?
Hola a todos. I currently have two windows to do the Irún to Bilbao section of the Camino del Norte, in mid-March and mid-October with 7 walking days. It's a stretch that I really would like to do as I have friends in Bilbao. I've heard the weather can be pretty bad in both and it could be...
Yes, I was Umming and Ahhing about throwing in the towel with my job and setting off to do the Camino and then I saw one of the waymarkers and I really did think it was a sign!
