I recently learned that the Archdiocese of Burgos is contimplating closing the Albergue de Peregrinos EMAUS in Burgos. This will a real shame as it is a wonderful respite for pilgrims to stop and find a warm Christian welcome, a communal meal, and a place where they can relax to regain strength...
We walking from Burgos to Santiago. At Ponferrada we leave the Frances and pick up the Invierno. The app makes me pick a Camino. If I pick Invierno I can’t put Burgos as my starting point. Comments/ideas?
Palma and I are starting our 15 days at Albergue de Peregrino, Emaus tomorrow in Burgos. I posted earlier info about the Albergue. Today I was informed of
one big change. We will NOT have Mass or communal meals on Sundays. Pilgrims are encouraged to go to St Nicolas at 17:30 or the Cathedral at...
My wife and I leave for Spain tomorrow. We will be volunteering as hospitaleros at the Albergue de Peregrinos, Emaus in Burgos from 1 to 15 April. The Albergue opens 1 April 2023. This albergue is a parochial hostel exclusive for pilgrims with credentials walking to Santiago de Compostela. It is...
What antacids are available in Spain? I am assuming TUMS and ROlAIDS are not available. I did a quick google search and found Almax, but at 7 euros for a box of 20 it’s pretty expensive.
The Albergue de Peregrinos Emaus in Burgos will open 1 April 2023. This albergue is a parochial hostel exclusive for pilgrims with credentials walking to Santiago de Compostela. It is a great place where pilgrims can find a warm Christian welcome, a communal meal, and a place where they can...
I am planning a trip to Spain this spring which will include walking the camino. In the past I would purchase a sim card once I was in Spain. This time however I will not be able to purchase a sim card for a few days after I arrive. Has anyone from the USA purchased a sim card BEFORE arriving in...

Albergue de Peregrinos Emaús in Burgos will be opening 1 April. They will be operating at 50% capacity ie 10 beds. They also will be offering a communal meal. This is a parochial albergue, very clean, modern and a great rest stop.
I have a callus on the side of my big toe. I wear a silicone toe cap that’s has worked well on my training hikes. However now that I’m walking longer hikes my toe has decided to complain to me. Just wondering what others with this issue do?
The FlyCovid Testing Center in Barajas Airport offer 4 types of tests:
(1) PCR;
(2) Rapid PCR;
(3) Rapid Antigen tests; and
(4) Rapid Antibody test
Are all these test acceptable for returning to the USA? If not which ones are acceptable?
I apologize if this has been asked but I can't seem...
Does anyone have an idea how much an OTC covid self-test costs in Spain. Trying to decide whether I should bring one from home or purchase one there if needed. Thanks
I’ve read a number of posts where folks have said there are hotels in Madrid that provide COVID testing on site. Can anyone tell me which hotels are providing such service?
Those of you who walked the Camino Frances this past year, did you find any Albergues or hostels that provided food and or breakfast? I’d love to hear your experiences.
For those of you who recently flown into Madrid, how long did it take to go through immigration & customs? I get into Madrid at 10:15 am and would like to make my way to Atocha for a 1:15 train in ample time.
Thanks!
I am a bit confused about indulgences and Santiago.
I totally get it that during a Jubilee year a pilgrim can gain a plenary indulgences if they:
(1) Pass through the Holy Door to visit the Cathedral of Santiago/Tomb of St. James.
(2) Say a prayer: at least the Apostle’s Creed, the Our Father...
I’m wondering if anyone knows how to make UNTO?
I’ve got a number of Galician recipes (to include Caldo Gallego) that call for unto. Unfortunately it’s not available in the USA. But since it’s cured pig fat I’m hoping someone may have made it and will share their process.
My wife and I have been going to Spain for the last few years to volunteer as hospitaleros at the Albergue de Peregrinos Emaús in Burgos. This pilgrim hostel is a great place where pilgrims find a Christian welcome here pilgrims find a Christian welcome, a communal meal and allows them to regain...
I have just finished 16 days as a hospitalero at the Albergue de Peregrinos Emaus in Burgos. I have not seen much on any forum about theft on the Camino so I’d like to give a warning to all. While my albergue was safe, we heard of much thievery on both the Frances and the Norte. A friend of mine...
My wife and I are the current hospitaleros at The Albergue de Peregrinos Emaus in Burgos. Just posting to let folks know that the albergue will be closed on tomorrow, 6 May 2018.
