My condolences to Denise's family. I have followed the news since Denise disappearance, praying for them and for her and thinking about them. I am so sad!
My husband swears by compression sleeves and wore them last camino without getting cramps. They can be purchased at most sports wear stores including mec and rei. It might be worth a try!
I walked the Camino France's for the second time in July of 2014. When I got to the cross, there was a crowd of bicyclists taking pictures of one another with the cross as a backdrop. The noise and lack of privacy caused me to wander over to a picnic table and wait until they had left. Then I...
I have hopes of doing this pilgrimage in my future as well. Pilgrimage Publications sells the Lightfoot Guide to the Via Francigina and it comes in ebooks. I have the first part of the guide that starts in Cantebury. I believe the books are in three parts. I am very pleased with the guide so...
I have plantar faciitis but walked the Camino Frances this year. Rolling your foot helps, I use a Lacrosse ball. Also, I have an orthotic which helps. On the walk this summer, when I had a few bad days, I taped my foot with physio tape bought at a farmacia. This in fact helps a great deal...
Having just completed camino Frances twice, once with just a liner, this time with a liner and down hiking quilt, and having experienced lots of rain and cold going through the mountains in Galicia, I would absolutely take something warm, a hiking quilt or a sleeping bag. The quilt is smaller...
I have gone through London from Vancouver, to Gatwick and then British airways to Bordeux from Gatwick. Then a train to Bayonne, train from Biaritz to St. Jean. It sounds complicated, but is really just a lot of waiting. I believe the least expensive route is Vancouver, Gatwick, bus to...
My husband and I will be leaving from Pamplona on the 16, so I am thinking our paths may cross. Pretty good chance. Buen Camino! We will be the jet lagged Canucks, me with my blue pack, him with his grey one. Hope to see you there!
My husband had a blister in the same spot on both feet that would not heal and created a lot of discomfort until someone suggested he go to a farmacia and ask for vendajes de plata made by hansaplast. These are silver iodine band aides. Once he started using these, the blisters cleared up...
Thank you so much for your advice. I think that we will leave the tent behind. Also, we will probably cut down to the Camino Frances before the tourist rush in August. Again thanks.
My husband and I are flying into Bilbao in mid July and want to walk the Camino Norte. We walked the Camino Frances together and loved it so much that we want to walk another pilgrimage and along the ocean coast sounds wonderful. Can anyone tell me whether packing a tent on this route is a...
I love the bunk bed picture! I can see really enjoying the space of the double bunk below while laying my clothes out for morning on the stairs as they provide great opportunities for organization. Wouldn't that be annoying for the upper bunk bedder? Just humour, not serious!
