Doug, you couldn't be more wrong. I'm just talking from experience. Thinking out of the box. I'm not going to bore you by going into any details however more than once in my life things which I had ruled out or better yet had absolutely no idea of ,have now turned out to be the best decisions...

European family holiday after walking the camino?

Well, four weeks is quite a long time & Europe is smaller than most people think, not to mention easy to get around. So expanding ones options sometimes may lead to a not only unexpected but memorable holiday.

European family holiday after walking the camino?

I believe that a change in scenery would be just what the doctor ordered, but of course not too close to civilization. Greece has 16,000 km of shore line ,6,000 islands, 227 of which are inhabited. Check out this site www.visit Greece. gr/en/greek-islands. Don't be turned off by what you...

Suggestions for 2 weeks outside of Spain

How about Mount Olympus in Greece. A good hike. The refuges on the way have everything you need. Loads of history & of course myths. It is possible to climb up to the throne of Zeus. (2970) I've done it more than once. It's part of Europe's E4 trails .I can give you more info if you like.

    traveling by bus

Thanks , I'm 57 & my friend is 45. So I'll have to wait till my 3rd camino to get better rates. One problem is, I was told that last minute tickets for trains are scarce and we probably won't know how long we're going to stay in Barcelona till we get there. We are totally against booking...
