I leave next Friday and do not plan on booking ahead. I prefer to just see where my feet take me. Although last year on the CF, once we hit Sarria and the hordes of people, we booked ahead but Im not sure it was entirely necessary but more for peace of mind. Really, I like to just see how I...
I download the wise pilgrim but it doesnt really cover the coastal route. I am leaving next Thursday so probably too late for the book. Ill try to find the book myself but I appreciate the offer. I am excited and know that the nerves will go away after I have been lost at least once...hahaha...
my plan is to take my running shoes and my hiking sandals rather than my hiking boots which I think would be overkill for the Portuguese. I start from Porto May 20, staying in Matosinhos May 21
Albertinho, so coming out of Caminha do you have to walk along the N13? It seems like a very busy road but I dont see another way out of town in that direction. I am google earthing it and thats what I see. I am assuming that there are signs or camino path signs? thanks.
So I think my plan is to take the coastal route from Porto to Caminha and then go from Caminha to Velanca to meet up with the central route. That way I get a good taste of both. If the weather is bad on the coast Ill go inland at Vila de Conde but Im hoping the weather is great. My question...
Starting from Porto and plan to walk to Matosinhos after arrival and then spend the night and walk up to Vila Do Conde. Still deciding whether to turn to the central route at that point. Since I am walking alone I would like to meet others but I also dont want to fight for beds every night...
I also am planning Camino Portugues next May and will be traveling solo. I need to be in the Isle of Man by June 3 so am thinking of starting mid May. I am also planning the coastal route for awhile and then going central route. I think I will enjoy the ocean and boardwalks. Maybe we will...
Sadly I will need to bring along a wheeled bag as I am planning an additional month in Europe so I will contact Ivar and see if he knows a cheaper way.
Thanks.
Thanks for the information stripey socks. I did read your blog and that also provided me with a little bit more information that will be helpful. I am excited but just started my planning.

Thanks for the information. I did not know there were two "interior" routes out of Porto. But I was talking the coastal route and what I think is the central route. Also the baggage service I am interested in is shipping things ahead for Ivar to hold for me. I just wasnt sure if that was...
I finished the Camino Frances this April and am currently planning to do the Portuguese route next May but had a few questions.
1) can I send my bags ahead to Santiago similar to what I did while in Spain? (I have a follow-on trip planned)
2) as a solo woman traveler is the coastal route (from...
I am starting my Camino on April 2 from Pamplona. I am leaving for Spain March 26 and spending a few days in Barcelona with some friends. A friend who is joining me for the last 100k was wondering about the safety of our backpacks in the albuergues. So my question is, Do pilgrims just leave...
