If you have no immediate plans for a Camino what do you aim for in terms of walking/training weekly?
I let my hiking/walking slack off this summer - did a 4.5 mile hike this am and noticed it.
I'm a 67 yo woman and I think my days of getting in shape quickly for when I do do another Camino in a...
Lucky me. Four years ago I was diagnosed with Parkinson's. On the advice of my doctor I've been working the exercise, including 2 21 day caminos the last 2 years.
The next time I'm back I'd like to do the full Camino Frances but that won't be for three or four years. The disease will...

Dry conditions remote location. Would be interested in hearing from any pilgrims in the area. I'm 10 days out and long since left SJ.
For four years my goal has been to go from SJPP to Roncesvalles over the pass. Trained for it, did what I thought I needed to do
But when a gust of wind nearly blew me over I knew it was time to pack it in. Made it to orisson(which is now closed for renovations) where the friendly owner called...

I'll be there in 3 weeks, hopefully adequately prepared.
so this is my camino history
- start CF Oct 2018, but as a result of bad footwear choices and an undiagnosed medical condition (early stage Parkinson's which affected my energy levels) I made it only as far as Santo Domingo
- start Santo Domingo Oct 2021, complete the CF November, this time with...

Interesting maps/artifacts/etc. Takes about an hour to visit.
Sorry but haven't seen this specific question. I fly out of Santiago to Madrid tomorrow ( Monday) late afternoon. My final flight to the states is on Thursday morning from madrid. Can I get the covid test while I'm in the Santiago airport? I thought I'd read that you can't get airport tests...
I have a free day Sunday in Burgos and would love to make a side trip to Silos. Having a hard time finding transportation options. Hotel says there's a bus at 5:30 but not a return bus.
Also would there be a service where I could hear the chanting live?
Thanks!
Debating whether to take a rest day after travelling from the states and before caminanding. Do have a medical condition that might impact endurance but not sure.
Thoughts?
I'm scheduled to arrive Madrid 10/19. i want to start/continue in Santo Domingo de la Calzada but keep getting error messages/no info on the rome2rio or alsa sites. are buses running between towns on the Camino? Thanks!
Well, I didn't quite go as far as I'd hoped. Done in by foot troubles just as my body was adapting to daily walking. Yet, by virtue of being on the camino, a major issue I'd been struggling with for the last two years resolved itself. I wasn't there to force my will or influence the...
So I'm a newbie here days into my first camino Frances.
Being unsure of my fitness level I opted for the Valcarlos route, splitting it into two days, SJPP to Valcarlos, VC to Burguete.
The first lap to VC couldn't have been more idyllic. Rolling hillsides,, bucolic country lanes, even an empty...
A change in circumstances in my life, and 3 weeks ago I decided to do the Camino Frances. Tickets booked via Madrid, pretty much will catch the last bus out of Pamplona to SJPP.
Did a 12.5 mile hike today, relatively flat, small pack. Feet OK but a few small blisters (just upgraded to better...
There's a very outside chance I could leave around 10/19, start 10/21 or so. If I can stay longer than 3 weeks, any idea of what I can expect weather wise? It would be my preference to do this mid-may to June but that might not be possible, November might be a better bet. Thoughts?
It won't be for another year that I could go, but if I can I'm thinking of inviting two 17-yo boys I'm close to to join me. I understand that to travel I would need parental authorization, etc. However, what about accomodations on the CF? specifically, if we're in a relatively small village...
I'm a few years out from doing the Camino (raising a teenager still (sigh). While I focus on the hear and now, I'd also like to read some books about other pilgrim's experience of doing the Camino (not necessarily guide books). Any recommendations?
