We did indeed Graeme - good to hear from you - I think we did have a special camino family. Glad to hear that you have walked a lot more - I will follow your footsteps Best wishes Angus
Thanks Robo - that is a good summary of all the kind and helpful comments . I do plan to volunteer when I retire and will certainly venture out again. Thanks for all the comments.
In March 2018 I took a month off work to celebrate my 50th and walked the Camino Frances from SJPdP to SdC. It was the life-changing event that is well documented in this Forum – I returned home full of joy and positivity.
Soon after returning, I planned a second Camino for 2023, after 5 years...
I am planning to walk the Central route from Coimbra over this Christmas and New Year and am a little nervous (as you might have seen from my previous posts) about which hostels might be open - I have John Brierley's excellent guide but would welcome advice on the best App or website to find...
I recently asked the Forum the question of which European route might have most amenities open over Christmas and New Year and the answer came back the Camino Portuguese – therefore may I sense-check my plan. I have bought John Brierley’s guide 22/23.
My plan is to fly to Porto on Saturday 16th...
I have just bought John Brierley's Camino Portugues so the seed is sown - which route would you recommend for amenities being open and recommend generally - Costa or Central? Thank you
Thanks - I fancy another route than Frances and I think that I might get 3 weeks so 500 km should be ok. Le Puy was always going to be next then de la Plata and then Francigena but each in the Spring
I walked the whole Camino Frances in April 2018 and have always wanted to do another - my only option this year maybe over Christmas and New Year and would be grateful for recommendations in respect of which routes should have the most hostels & cafes open.
I completed the Camino Frances in March 2018 from SJPDP and hope to persuade my work to let me have another month off next year, 2023 but feel that it will be easier to do so if I go in December - I am thinking Podiensis, del Norte or de la Plata
I am not so bothered by bad weather but would...
Please keep this sort of post to Tripadviser - Beilari and especially Joseph, was for me a wonderful start to my Camino in March - this site is not for personal grievances.
Dear Mary I have been enjoying reading the daily posts since I got back from my Camino Frances in April this year but yours is the first post that I have wanted to respond to. My advice is - don't give up as the effects can take a while to become evident - I would say that it took me 10 days /...
Hello - I am leaving SJPP in mid March and am unsure whether to take a sleeping bag - I have a silk liner and expect that I can just use the hostel's blankets saving quite a bit of room in my rucksack. I would welcome your advice.
I am heading out from SJPP on 180218 and I wonder whether I should take some extra old layers/gloves that I can leave in Roncesvalles - just incase the weather is nasty. Thank you Angus
