Can anyone tell me the address of the Pilgrim Records Secretary of the Confraternity of St. James, UK? I am a member but I can't find the address and I need to send off for some credentials.
If you have it (on the back page of a bulletin - which I can't currently find), then please Email me...
Bed bugs get carried along the camino by pilgrims but they can also infest a particular bed or room by setting up home there and breeding. They can hide in in cracks in the skirting or behind a picture as well as in the bed.
I think the reason they are more common towards the end of the year...
Thanks John
It does look as though it IS perfectly possible from all the tourist information but I would be grateful for confirmation from anyone who has done it.
P.S. I couldn't even find a search function on the Spanish Post Office site
http://www.correos.es/
or...
I am sure this has been asked before but I can't find an answer this morning.
Does anyone know if you can you send parcels post restante to Spain from outside (i.e. England). I am sure I looked this up last year and printed something out from the Spanish Post Office site . . . but this year...
Most people seem to attach shells. I also sewed the CSJ one onto my rucksack

I thought it very striking. I also like the one from this forum.
Thanks pjdine - I'll see if I can get hold of some. And, ta xm, I will endeavour to keep cheerful . . . (does anyone else remember Mona Lot: "It's being so cheerful as keeps me going"?)
Like the duct tape idea - will do.
I have packed my stuff in net bags (the sort they sell for laundry) - doesn't crackle AT ALL and I have customised them to fit my clothes so they act as compression sacks too (one each for spare sets - plus three small ones for underwear and towels) . I'm...
Yuk, that's really cheered me up! What with my companions swollen knees, my aching shoulders, being unsure about finding accommodation and not being able to get my pack weight down below 8Kg (without the water!). . . after months of excited preparation, I am now feeling really really nervous . ...
bed bugs and fleas
How can one be sure it's bed bugs? I get bitten a lot abroad by mosquitoes and fleas. Fleas just love me. Fortunately they often jump off again when you are on the move - although last year in France I got bitten by a flea/fleas for a week - we moved on and the flea...
thanks
Thanks Ivar.
I'll see what I can do . . . I may just leave it up to them or organise . . . I am finding getting myself and daughter organised for the trip from Le Puy quite time-consuming enough as it is . . .
Many thanks again.
Has anyone any advice?
My main companion and I are carrying all our stuff from France and into Spain. But at the end we are going to be joined in El Ferrol/La Coruna by our partners for a final burst down the Camino Ingles.
I am not sure either of them are up to carrying gear - plus...
Seems like always
I'm English and I can't remember ever not knowing about the camino. I went to convent schools in the 40s and 50s I must have been told about it in school when very little.
I also went on a holiday from Barcelona across Spain to Galicia in 1970 (by car). We stopped...
Flan and Lomo
Flan - if home-made - is simply delicious. Just baked eggs and milk with a brown sugar glaze (i.e. egg custard/creme caramel). But there is lots of packet stuff around that I agree is not nice.
Lomo - three decades ago in Spain was often horsemeat. A bit chewy but quite...
immersion heater
Interesting that you cannot seem to be able to buy these for shipping to the UK. They must be banned here as unsafe. I remember a friend had one years ago and we used it in our bedsit. But I have not seen them for decades.
Maybe I'll look out for one in France when we get...
Every 20 minutes
Yes, I'm the same. Always have been. So it's a concern for me - especially in treeless areas.
In the remote past I did a lot of walking in the Carpathians - no problems there, Redpomegranites. We were lucky if we saw anyone much at all!
Device
After reading this very helpful discussion above, I bought a whiz from the website mentioned above and also a shewee which sounded similar (http://www.shewee.com/) but which was a lot cheaper and is a slightly different design.
I found the latter suited me better and I used it...
