2 weeks of walking - which part would you recommend?

I know it usually isn't the first Camino of Choice if you haven't done one but The Primitivo can be in in 12-14 days. I did it in 12 with no rest days averaging 30km/day. It gives you a sense of accomplishment that you completed a whole Camino. I was going to walk from Pamplona to......wherever...

    Skipping Pamplona?

I was given the advice to stay a day in Pamplona once I arrived...sight see then head on up to St Jean. That way I could walk through Pamplona and not miss seeing it .........and then find a smaller town to stay in after that....

Walking the Camino de Frances in April: Tips and Advice

We started hiking April 28th. 2016. And we encountered 80 degree days prior to entering Galicia then it rained almost everyday...mud etc. But there were a few sun breaks and I really enjoyed those times...Made me thankful for the shade when it was sunny and the warmth when it was raining

LIVE from the Camino Where to stay if not following stops in guidebook

Do you exclusively seekout/ stay in Municipal Albergues? I am walking solo in March and don't plan on making reservations. When I walked with my wife in 2016 it made more sense to stay in Pensions as it was just as cheap and we had our privacy but this time I'm planning on being more minimal...

When does the Napoleon Route open in 2022?

So the Varcarlos route is open all year long? I arrive in Pamploma March 27th. I will look at the weather conditions in the Pyrenees and determine if I will start in Pamploma. How is the lower route at that time of year?

Weather - now that’s a new one eh?!

We walked april 28th through May 15th.......Yes the first part was hot and dry, we got sunburned walking through the wine country past Astorga. Then after we hit Ocebreiro it rained all the time. We bought 3 dollar ponchos to get us through.

    First timer

Sarah, I envy you not having to have to be back home anytime soon. With that said. I would say don't push yourself too hard. Stop and smell the roses. I was on a time constraint and had to be back to work so I walked 7am to 5pm almost everyday. I wish I was able to stop earlier like at 1 or 2...

    Necessary Sundries

Yes, right behind a wall one time there must have been hundreds of wads of toilet paper. Mainly from women urinating. No feces found. And oh.... the flies.....No cool at all

Indecision and questions about Camino for first time- helpful advice from pilgrims requested!

I took the train from Madrid to Leon, spent the night then took a bus to Astorga. I averaged 20k/day and made it to Santiago in 10 days. It was so scenic, some parts strenuous, hot at times, rainy many days. My favorite part was up to Sarria, this is where it gets crowded with hiking groups etc...

    Necessary Sundries

What absolute sundries do you need? Last time I walked from Astorga to SdC I had sunscreen, a bar of Dove soap, tooth paste. I hope to walk again next year. What am I missing ?

    St. Jean to Burgos

I was going to do the Primitivo....but after thinking about why I want to walk the Camino it excites me to start at the very beginning if the Frances, to start with others, be social, hopefully make some friends. My last Camino astorga to SdC, I remember quite vividly the pilgrims we met along...

    St. Jean to Burgos

Hello all, after much thought and deliberation with many of yours advice I’ve decided to walk from St Jean to Burgos next year. Given have 10-12 days to walk and have already walked from Astorga to SDC. This seems most reasonable. I’m mainly writing this for myself to initiate a goal. I hope...

Camino Angel : What to bring from home to give out to fellow pilgrims ?

I know it wasn't the lightest but I brought a small back of shells I had collected while at Puerto to Penasco. I would hand them out to the locals as well as to Perigrino's. I know not as practical as electrolytes but perhaps they will remember me in a small way.

We are starting the Camino in Astorga but need Hotel recomendations in Leon where we will arrive by train from Madrid the day before. Does not need to be fancy. But would be nice centrally located. Thanks Rich and COlleen
