I walked the CP in 2015 starting from the cathedral. They were 'out' of credentials. Very disappointing! I collected stamps in my guide book until able to buy one a few days later at alburgue. When I walked VdlP in 2017, I obtained ahead of time from American pilgrim group ( I'm in USA).
My credit card statement says I bought it at Joalharia Ferreira Marques. The location on their website map looks correct. It cost 2,418 Euros (Not really. Just kidding. I'm not saying the price. But that's how much I told my wife it cost. No. Just kidding that also.)
OK - I had intended to post this last year after returning home, but better late than never. Here is a photo of the Heart of Viana filigree necklace I purchased in Lisbon. It's modeled by my wife who was very pleased to receive it.
The walk along the coast is not to be missed. You might even want to stay overnight in Matosinhos instead of taking the metro from the city to there. The extra 10km of walking along the water front from Porto to Matosinhos might be a little much.
Virtually the entire walk is newer boardwalk...
I walked from Alvaiazere to Alvorge, then Alvorge to Cernache. Both days about equal in distance. A brand new albergue in Alvorge. As you come through the small 'business section', get the albergue key from the café, otherwise, you'll need to backtrack a little to get it.
It's good to hear there are some friendly dogs on the Camino. My dog, Dickson, joined me a few months ago on the CP and he produced a video of his journey with his dog cam. Enjoy. ;)

If that mercado with the key is closed on Sunday, I can understand this. They need a better system. I had issues with this albergue in May. There were 3 of us together that day. We could not find Jacinto - got tired and gave up. Flora wasn't 30 Euros as stated in Brierley's. At least not our...
I walked the Camino Portuguese from Lisbon in May and just now (slowly) getting my journal typed up - so I'm reminded of all this again. After Santiago I bussed back to Lisbon for 2 tourist days before flying back to U.S.. Because I could only get a bed for one night at a time, I stayed in two...
Today there was no key for the pilgrim shelter. The lady at the market across the street did not have it. Presumably a pilgrim had it and will return. After hours, no key. Could not find jacino. Three of us went to expensive flor and after dinner met two who went to bombaros. The Lady at market...
Leaving for the airport in less than an hour. Thanks for all the ideas. I think it will be something with Heart of Viana filigree. This started when I told my wife if she didn't give me some gift ideas, I would just get her a refrigerator magnet. That's when she suggested jewelry! I will update...
I should have started this thread earlier. I fly to Lisbon tomorrow, but should be able to see responses over the next month. My flight home is June 1 and my 7th wedding anniversary is the day before, May 31. I would like to buy some traditional Portuguese jewelry for my wife (or not come...
Laurie,
Sorry. I'm either a week too late or a month too early. I arrive and start walking this Thursday and back in Lisbon toward the end of the month (if still alive).
Regardless, I want to THANK YOU so much (muito obrigado) for all the work you put into this forum. You are active member, a...
As I put a yellow sticky note in my JB guide about this, I did a little calculation. If the 500m estimate from Miguel is accurate, that's only a 6 minute walk for a good meal. Photos on Google Maps show a very relaxing place.
I found this video of the Porrino stage biking through the NEW way. It shows the old and damaged signs. This video helps to see what is there and you understand how confusing it is. Another unrelated thread says he has bad feelings about JB's (and other guides) just for this reason of cutting...
