Hello,
First this forum has been extremely helpful in my planning on getting Porto to Quinta Sao Miguel de Arcos.
My first stop is in Arco from Porto on Oct 18. I land in Porto Oct 17 late afternoon and will try to get all my stuff done (passport, SIM card) that evening but will need to do...
Hello, I have booked a night in Casas da Quinta da Cancela in Balugaes but just discovered the "famous" casa Fernanda. I do have free cancellation for Quinta da cancela but want to make sure I can actually get a night for Fernanda since it is so popular. I will be walking in late October.
Do...
You can probably also hire one of those luggage transfer services so make sure it gets there and compare costs. I think if you are minimal you'll be able to find really cheap clothes especially at places like Primark. They have one in SDC

Are you American?
It would be wise to unlock your cell phone and get a SIM card. Look for a cell/tech stand/kiosk at the airport, train station or a VODAFONE. I haven't been on a camino but I lived in Europe and understand the uncertainity. I am going Porto to SDC starting Oct 19th and I have...
The camino guidebook I purchased didn't have any historical references to the cities. Just maps and accommodation and basic packing tips. Is there a guidebook that indicates what to look out for / historical landmarks for the camino? Or is this something just to research before the trip?
I'm...
Thank you! I have found this interesting vegetarian animal farm a bit off the camino near Rubiaes so I think I will stay there, just deciding on if I should 1 or 2 nights. Reviews said people wish they stayed 2!
Right exactly, I think their mind is the greatest asset but also the weakest link which is why they are so good at autos but I digress.
I actually live best with balance but I find it difficult to not have a plan or a rough structure as some farmsteads have limited rooms and nights are already...
Thank you for your thoughts. I haven't been on the camino but I lived in Germany and traveled a bit in the bigger cities in Portugal but I'd say as an American, Europeans use cash....even in non-tourist Germany unless it was a national chain did not take credit card, only cash or a German debit...
This is a great idea, I do leave Santiago Nov. 2 and if I start around Oct 19 with a day trip to Braga, I think that will only give me 1 entire day in Santiago if I walk in Oct 31. Such tough decisions on how flexible to be?
I lived in Germany for 1.5 years and they've indoctrinated my mind to...
My guidebook hasn't arrived yet and trying to figure out some itinerary ideas.
Im part planner, part go w. the flow and since I've never done the camino before, part of my brain is wired to have a plan. What cities would you find would be better options?

Hello, I am doing my first camino in October. And though I am on a budget, I am not penny pinching this trip.
I've been to Porto and will stay the night and the next day I am deciding one of two ideas:
-Take a taxi (or bus to villa do condo and then taxi to a Quinta in Arco) to Arco, stay the...
I will be walking my first camino, the Portuguese Central Way this mid-october. So for about 12-13 days on the trail, how much money should I carry? I thought between 300-500 Euros as towns w/ ATM's may be far in between?
