Hi again Mack. Did my trip in April/May this year. Six weeks. I am 75. Booked Orisson before I left home with no problems at all. Tough climb over the Pyrenees but carried my backpack. Usually stayed in hostels with own bathroom as I also like my privacy, however I did stay at some Albergues...
I flew Emirates to Barcelona, stayed at hotel at train station, 7am train to Pamplona. Could have waited few hours for bus to St J but decided on taxi to save time. €90. went to pilgrim office, organised accommodation (not previously booked) sorted luggage to send on to Santiago, relaxing...
You may not want to spend the money but arriving in Pamplona a few weeks ago instead of waiting a few hours for the bus I just paid 100€ for a taxi. Less stress. Good commentary and advice from the driver, time to visit pilgrim office, find accommodation and organise to forward extras to...
Thanks for comments. Intending to have a day or so in Barcelona for a look before going to st j. Will fly out of Madrid after another quick touristy day or so.
I am starting my Camino in April and flying into Barcelona. I thought to train to Pamplona and then taxi or bus to st jean. I thought this was the easiest way. Am i missing something?
I agree, see all you can while there if you have time and money. Would only cost a few extra nights accommodation. I thought to fly to Madrid from Santiago, have a look and fly home from there. No need to go back to Barcelona. Hey even a side trip to Morocco or Portugal. Why hurry home?
Am travelling from Australia and i am going via Barcelona. Bus or train from Barcelona to Pamplona sounds easy then either bus or taxi to sjpp. Via Paris sounds like too many transport changes to me. Also day or so in Barcelona .... Haven't been there so will have a look.
