Some eMTBs have a walk mode where the motor will move the bike slowly at walking speed.
There is a 'deadmans' lever that requires holding down so the bike will stop if released.
Just remember to load all your luggage on the bike not you.
I am 73 and if I had to choose eMTB or my MTB it would be...
I changed to thick bamboo or Marino 'shreddies' to replace the traditional padded cycling shorts.
The lightweight Marino boxers are for summer and the BAM ones for colder days.
I found padded shorts caused rather than prevented sweat sores and BAM boxers are really good at getting rid of sweat...
Not sure if you can fly with ebike batteries but do look into that.
On the practical front is the battery easily removable? If not you need to carry an extension lead plus your charger. More weight. What type connector and how long a lead?
Personally I would remove as much external anxiety...

Have a look at the Eurovelo website
http://www.eurovelo.com/en/eurovelos/eurovelo-1/countries/france
I would use EV1 to take you down the west coast.
You will need to find your own route to it as it starts in Roscoff and again at the bottom as it heads for Northern Spain. Plenty of Avenue...

I also run XM481s on 240S hubs. I find DTS wheels...

Tubed or tubless?
I would be interested in your packing list. Are you carrying camping gear?
Also be...

Not sure if 'plugged in' walkers would hear it though.;)
Apologies if this has been posted previously. Did a quick search and nothing came up.
There is a self supported race called the French Divide which runs diagonally across France. Parts of it claim to be on the Santiago route. If any one is looking for a 'super route' to Santiago through France...

Good to read your account and thanks for the really good information.
I am thinking about building a ‘special’ bike for a trip from the uk to SDC. I note your comments on disc brakes and have already decided to keep the old vee brakes as I have never had a problem with them but have...

A later thought was would the office in Santiago accept travelling this way or would I need to appeal to Rome for dispensation?
The performance was quite impressive though I was just finishing a long gentle down hill when this thing just appeared and glided off into the distance...

I was out bending the peddles the other evening when another cyclist appeared from a converging path alongside. I was state of the art air sprung light weight aluminium he was well oldish looking riding in a sit up and beg position with panniers in the back and peddling at a lower cadence. On...
