I take 2 pairs of sun sleeves and 2 leg warmers in place of long sleeve tops and trousers. I buy mine from soxfootwear.co.za. but 15 years ago I bought leg warmers in Spain. Photo: left 2011. Right 2022 on the Primitivo
I agree about Dexshell socks. I wear them in wet weather with Keen Whispers. I've traipsed through snow fields in the Alps, walked through steams and puddles, and my feet have stayed dry.
You're probably right. The recommended weight for the OMM is 9kg. I don't think I could carry 9kg, nor would I need to even if I was younger and stronger! The Camino isnt a wilderness trail and all one needs is a change of clothing, raingear, toiletries, medication and 1 - 1.5lt of water. The...
I have been using the frameless 32L OMM (Original Mountain Marathon) Classic for many years. It weighs about 600g empty and around 6kg fully packed. I usually walk between May and September so only need lightweight clothing. I am 74 years old, weigh 57kg and have osteoporosis, worse in the...
There are many backpacking websites that use the words ‘ultralight’ and ‘ultra-lite’ when describing backpacks. But to qualify as an ultra-light backpack, I only consider packs that weigh 1 kg or 2.2 lbs and under because I don’t think of anything over 1 kg or 2.2 lbs as being ultra-light!
New...
I wear above knee culottes (divided skirt style) in spring and summer. In spring I wear them with leggings or leg warmers.
I also wear short sleeve tops in spring and summer, starting off on cooler days with arm warmers.
A few years ago I bought colourful leg warmers in Spain and still use...
This is similar to the Gossamer Gear Mariposa that my husband uses. It weighs about 450g and can comfortably carry up to 12kg. Have a look at it here and read the reviews.

Difference? Cost is $135
I love my ALTUS. As a jacket can also double up as another layer when it is cool but not wet, this year I bought an XXL Quecha rain jacket (240g) from Decathlon and it fits over me and my pack. It cost €14.99 and matching rain pants (225g) cost the same. So for the same weight but at a 2/3...
I think the Ferrino is great - but it is about €63 and the ALTUS is €53. I have ordered a Bluefield from Amazon that is €15.99 Worth a try!
It claims to be 100% waterproof.
Materials: 210T terylene taped seam seal.
Large volume of backpack cover
Olive button design prevents the backpack fell...

The Wheelie 111 is highly recommended.

‘I bought the Carrix as I could no longer carry a backpack. This means that...
I have never sent my backpack into the hold. Too many people report backpacks going missing and not being found and they then have to start from scratch when they get to Spain :-(
If your pack complies with the dimension regulations you can take it into the cabin. Weight is important - usually...
;) I agree with Philly. The question is not, "Do I need to bring a sleeping bag/Liner at all? " but 'Do I need a sleeping bag or liner?"
You need to bring something - not nothing at all!
I have always taken a sleeping bag that can unzip into a duvet. I open that on the bed before I lie down on it.
In Galicia, most municipal albergues hand out disposable mattress covers to all pilgrims when they arrive. At least this way, whatever you leave behind is thrown out with the...
The question comes up regularly on the Camino forums, 'Will I need a sleeping bag in ......................."
Most of the albergues require that pilgrims have a sleep 'sack' of some sort, not for their warmth, or for their comfort, but for hygiene purposes and to protect the mattresses...
