LIVE from the Camino OzAnnie jumps on Levante from Toledo (with help from friends )

Annie, I’m pleased you’re enjoying ‘slow camino’ and enjoying Avila. I’m sure you’ll have the opportunity to try out a couple of bars/wines. Do report back ;)

LIVE from the Camino OzAnnie jumps on Levante from Toledo (with help from friends )

Annie, you’re doing great and Laurie and the gang are so helpful. Keep the energy up, and I’m pleased you took a wee taxi ride to shorten your long day. I was thinking of giving caminos a miss this year (after Madrid and Mozarabe last year) but now I’m keen to finish my aborted Levante from...

La Pobla Llarga - New albergue

Jean-luc this is super news. I’ve just returned from the Cami Madrid and the Mozárabe. I’ve still got the Levante to complete from Toledo. The new Albergue won’t be on my dance card but it’s great to see more Albergues popping up on the Levante. I loved walking the first half. Very different...

    Sleeping Pad for the Levante?

Hi Hamish, Personally I think you will find that you don’t need a mat. There was always somewhere to stay and all the albergues had beds/bunks with matresses. It would be ‘rare’ for them to be full. Mostly I was staying on my own or with only 1 other. If not an albergue, you’ll find a pension...

LIVE from the Camino Camino Mixto: Feb-Mar 2019 Levante

Hi Donna, if you still feel refreshed and want to continue after Xativa, there is a great muni at Canals (+7km). You get the key from the policia. It is a little apartment situated above the local market so coffee at the cafe below is possible very early for the stallholders ;)

LIVE from the Camino Camino Mixto: Feb-Mar 2019 Levante

Hi Donna, what a great start to your adventure. I’ll be keeping a close eye on your reports especially your time after Toledo. Are you going all the way to Zamora then hooking up with the Vdlp to Santiago? I’ll be following some time in May. Enjoy and have a glass or to for me. Cheers, Grace

Will Anyone Be Walking the Levante From Valencia the Last Week of October ?

Hi @Freewalker - what a great camino to choose (I’ve walked as far as Toledo so far - see my posts here). I had prepared some notes before leaving and I can email them to you if you would like to PM me. Also there are many threads on the forum to follow other pilgrims Levante escapades ( just...

Has anybody stayed in La Font de la Figuera in the last couple of months?

When I was there in 2017 it was lovely. The previous pilgrims had done a great job of cleaning and indeed I followed suit with the cleaning products provided. The local bars served wonderful food making for a super visit to ths lovely town. In fact, the representative from the Ayuntamiento had...

Camino Requena onto Levante to finish with Fisterra

Wishing you a fun camino. Very brave for your first. I hope the weather is kind to you. The Levante can be very harsh in heat. Always ensure you have plenty of water with you. Bless.

Accommodation difficult this 1 May "puente"?

Jean-Luc it looks like the Levante is becoming the ‘flavour of the month’ :) You and the team at the Pilgrim Office do a wonderful job of maintaining the arrows and promoting the walk. Thanks so much and say hi to the Pilar’s from me xx

Accommodation difficult this 1 May "puente"?

hi @eamann - good on you. I have ‘some’ notes from that area (I had to miss some sections due to injury) so I hope I can provide a few useful details for you. In the pretty town of San Clemente (before Las Pedroneras) if I remember correctly I got the key for the lovely Albergue from the...

Post Camino Levante Thoughts and Observations

Super report Don. I’m glad you made it as far as Zamora. Your review is how I’d describe my camino Levante as well. And I too loved Toledo as a stopping point. I’d put the Cathedral in second spot behind the Sevilla Cathedral in terms of magnificence. So now you’ll rest up and dream of your...

    Stages on Camino de Levante

Stephen, if you PMme with your email address I will send you my planning notes. You will find additional notes and comments in my thread on my Levante this year (May/June) as far as Toledo https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/on-the-levante-for-summer.48264/

    Countdown to the Levante/Pack list

As for your packing list, I won’t comment on everything as you are clearly a seasoned Pilgrim and know what works for you. You will find the albergues on the Levante quite sparse and most have very basic facilities (bed, shower, hot water). I ate at local bars for every meal. Half of the time...
