I have a day open at the end of my late October Camino, and am thinking of taking an out-and-back day trip to Padron. (Never been to Padron.) Looks like there are frequent train and bus connections. Any suggestions, recommendations?
You're now in Northern Virginia! Wow! .... I've enjoyed your posts over the years, very much enjoyed your book, and I'm sure that I'd enjoy a face-to-face! Almost every Friday afternoon @ 2 PM or so I gather with several other veteran peregrinos in Fredericksburg VA @ the closest thing to a...
Don't be misled by the ad into thinking that you must buy your ticket(s) at that new location or on line.
You can also buy your tickets live-in-person at the Monbus desk at the intermodal station (in SdeC) or directly from the bus drivers (in such places as O Cebreiro, Sarria, El Ferrol, and etc.)
And the new intermodal station is VASTLY superior to the old station!
(Bought my ticket to Ferrol/Camino Ingles there at the Monbus desk just a few weeks ago.)
I honestly don't remember much from my 1977 visit to SdeC -- but I do remember all those souvenir shops! As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.....
Attn SdeC residents and etc: I'm planning on my Spring 2022 walk to arrive in SdeC on Wednesday, May 25, and then enjoy at my leisure the Feast of the Ascension on Thursday, May 26, 2022. What can you tell me about any special SdeC Ascension events/activities?
My strange 2021 CF was over. It had been a tough one due to the fact that I'd broken my left ankle waaaaay back in Burgos, and then kept on walking waaaaay longer than I should have. (Not smart!) However, the frustrating walk ended on a very high, happy note!
Upon reaching SdeC (by bus) I...
Another special Santiago place: the lively street-side terraza, Cafe-Bar Mazarelos, Plaza de Mazarelos 14 -- best chorizo al vino en toda Espana IMHO.

20 minutes easy walk SE from the Plaza Obradoiro, and not all that far from the Albergue Seminario Menor. Edge of the casco viejo, just off the Brierley town plan.... If you're a church geek like me, its memorable! And it has wonderfully retained its sense of being a church, not a curiosity...
Another special Santiago spot? How about this one? The Collegiate Church of Sta Maria la Real del Sar. (Already referenced above, by Peregrina2000.)
Why this Romanesque masterpiece is not better known baffles me, with its mysterious leaning interior columns, its awesome buttresses, and all...
Ah, memories.... ! I was once a satisfied customer of that very same remarkably spick-and-span laundromat! Haven't thought of it in years!

Growing up in 'the States' I was taught to walk on the side facing on-coming traffic -- ie, the left side.
I've been knocked down by joyriding cyclists three times over the years, including once on that dangerous rocky slope approaching Zubiri. Very fortunate not to have been seriously...
