All in jest, you cyclists, but just popped into my head...to the tune of 'Folsom Prison Blues' after an encounter yesterday just outside of Ponferrada.
Winter Camino Bike Blues
I hear those bikes a comin'
they're rolling up the rear.
And the whining of those wheels
grates hard upon my ear.
I'm walkin' the Way in winter,
got no clue where these guys are from.
But they just keep on comin'
away from wherever's called home.
Do they even see me, I'm hopin' so,
else I'll soon be lying in repose.
But they go 'whoosh' close by me,
a silent 'Ave' sails to the sky.
Can't tell if they're bicigrinos,
or out from a local club.
But twixt the ice and gravel,
I'm glad they didn't flub.
With apologies to Mr. Cash (and cycling fans who know how to use bells and horns)
